Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes August 17, 2023 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location, Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery Copies of the July 2023 meeting minutes, the August 2023 agenda, and the updated sub-committee assignments were provided. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Chairman Bruce Cox, Vice-chair Beverly Baker, Secretary Alice Lübbers, Dina Williamson-Erdag, Stephen Hall, Jerry Dumont, Greg Cardarelli, Jerry Paradise, Commissioner Frank Carbone, and Jimmy Martinez were present. No Public members were in attendance. Absent: Eddie Williams, excused 3. Approval of the Agenda for August 17,2023. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). No Public present. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of July 20, 2023. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 6. Announcements (First) • Stephen Hall announced he would not be attending the September meeting. • Fall Festival Dates: Fall Festival dates, September 21-24 • Eddie Williams will be TDY for several months. • Carl Jones wife, Freda passed away last week. • The Annual Thank You BBQ, Thursday, October 26th. 11:00 -2:00 ---PAGE BREAK--- Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes August 17, 2023 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. None 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). None. 9. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. None. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding wreath holders. Jerry Paradise presented a wreath holder he constructed out of wooden dowels for consideration for the “Wreaths Across America” wreaths. Committee members liked the holder. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the wreath holders. Greg Cardarelli seconded. Motion was approved. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the possible hosting of a 2024 Memorial Day morning event by our committee. Members stated the event was a great idea. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve hosting the event. Alice Lübbers seconded. The motion was approved. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding purchasing a glass display cabinet to store veteran memorabilia. The cabinet would be placed in the lobby area of the building. Members agreed it was a great idea. Dina Williamson-Erdag made the motion to purchase a glass display cabinet. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 13. Updates from the Donated Items Subcommittee. Beverly Baker presented the new Donated Items logbook. The book contains the current Donated Items SOP and the shed inventory list. Committee members requested copies of the inventory list. ---PAGE BREAK--- Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes August 17, 2023 14. Updates from the Advertising Subcommittee. Dina Williamson-Erdag and Stephen Hall provided samples of pamphlets and brochures, (Chief Tecopa cemetery, Memorial Benches, and the War Memorial Study guide), from the Pahrump Tourism office and the Pahrump Town office. The individual in charge of Tourism (name not provided) offered to have the pamphlets/brochures professionally printed with QR codes utilizing the Tourism publisher. She will check pricing and quantity information. The Advertising Subcommittee will provide updates at a future committee meeting. 15. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second). None 16. COMMITTEE COMENTS (Second). None 17. ANNOUNCEMENTS (Second). None The next meeting of the PVMAC; September 21, 2023, at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 18. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bruce Cox at 4:45
