The Nevada Open Meeting Law, NRS Chapter 241, declares legislative intent that all public bodies (including Boards) esist to aid in the conduct of the people’s business and that it is the intent of the law that the member who takes action in violation Open Meeting law, with knowledge of the violation, is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be prosecuted. Wrongful exclusion of any person from a meeting of the public body is also a misdemeanor. Any time a majority of Board members gathers together in a place that has not been legally posted per Open Meeting law requirements, they cannot discuss or deliberate on an action. PERSONAL 73 years old, married ,one adult child. Resident of the Town of Pahrump for 13 years. INTEREST Public Lands Advisory Committee. My first visits to Pahrump were in the late 1980’s during the annual Baker to Vegas relay race. I was impressed by the beauty of the area and the friendliness of the people I met. While retired I visited Pahrump during events at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch. During this time, my wife and I decided to look for property in the area, and eventually moved from California. While a resident we began exploring the surrounding area and met some people in the Pahrump Valley 4 Wheelers, and joined that club. I had also heard of the town’s interest in developing a park on land that was to be acquired from the Bureau of Land Management, and began attending the Public Lands Advisory Board meetings. During a meeting, I was informed of a vacancy on the Board, and as I was interested in public land use, I decided to apply for membership on the Board. I have now served on the Committee for about ten years, much of that time working to acquire land from BLM for a shooting range.
