PAHRUMP TOURISM ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES ITEM # SUBJECT July 11, 2019 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Tourism Advisory Committee was held at 8:00AM on July 11, 2019 at 400 N. Hwy 160 Pahrump, NV 89060. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chairman James Horton at 8:03 am in the conference room at 400 N. Hwy 160. 2. Roll Call Attendees: PTAC members - James Horton, Karen Spalding, Debbie Davis, Bonnie Bates, Catherine Tillett, Jack Sanders, Ambrose Kroetsch, Lynn Peterson and Kellie Graham. Tourism Director - Arlette Ledbetter with Alexandra Crow. PTAC Liaison – John Koenig, BOCC. Guests - Bob Adams; Deanna O’Donnell, KPVM TV and K-ACE 95.9; Debbie Harris, PI Media; David Mayne, PI Media; Will Peers, Lakeview Golf Course; Frank Rob Ken Johnson, Vegas – The Networ; Hunter DeMarais, Tim Sutton, County Manager; Ronna McKiernan; Kurt Ouchida, Brain Trust; Patricia Goode, Brain Trust; Kevin Geary, Brain Trust; and Mark Naparston, Brain Trust. 3. Approval of the Agenda for July 11, 2019 Agenda approved. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person). Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item. (FIRST) Ken Johnson, Vegas-The Network gave a brief overview of the new television program and James Horton invited him to return to a future meeting and give a presentation. Other guests introduced themselves. 5. FOR POSSIBLE ACTION: Discussion and Deliberation of Minutes of the Pahrump Tourism Advisory Committee meeting of June 6, 2019 Karen Spalding moved to approve the minutes as submitted. Jack Sanders seconded. Motion was approved unanimously. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS (FIRST) Bob Adams, OHV/ATV Ambassador for PTAC, reported on future OVH activities in all areas of Nye County. COMMITTEE COMMENTS (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) James announced that Jack and Betsy Sanders are on the from of the Pahrump Life this month and that it a very positive article inside the magazine. 8. Presentation by Will Peer on the Lakeview Executive Golf Course Will showed a video of the new changes at the County owned golf course. 9. FOR POSSIBLE ACTION – Discussion and Deliberation regarding Tourism Director’s update, activity reports and projects Arlette presented her reports for this quarter. Along with the distribution of copies of the Town of Pahrump Summary of FY 2020 Projects and the Executive Summary. 10. FOR POSSIBLE ACTION – Discussion and Deliberation regarding Travel Nevada’s use of the title, “Death Drive”, which includes Hwy. 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump. A copy of Travel Nevada’s Road Trips- Death Drive was distributed to the committee and discussion pursued, both pros and cons. 11. FOR POSSIBLE ACTION – Discussion and Deliberation regarding Brain Trust on the 2020 Marketing Strategy and Marketing Buy. The Brain Trust group gave a very, informative and well received presentation of new ideas for the 2020 Media Campaign. 12. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second) None 13. ANNOUNCEMENTS (Second) None The next PTAC meeting will be Thursday, September 12 at 8:00 a.m. at 400 N. Hwy 160. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 10:20 a.m.
