PLAC March 8, 2022, item 9 backup. An OHV route connecting central Pahrump to the public land to the north was laid out based on Nye Co. Assessor maps showing Higley Road connecting to Crest Ave. Progress stalled after learning 1.3 miles of the route was across private property. The gap is shown on the map below. At a PPLAC (Pahrump Public Land Advisory Board) meeting attended by Nye Co. Public Works, Nye County Commissioner Deb Strickland, and BLM it was decided the best solution to close the 1.3-mile gap is a ROW (Right of Way) application. That proved to be complicated and expensive. A more expedient solution is detour around the private property by adding a section of existing trail to the State’s Official Transportation Trail Map shown below. The Official Map change done, the detour must be considered by PPLAC, PTAC (Pahrump Tourism Advisory Committee) for presentation for approval by the Nye Board of County Commissioners to be sent to Nevada State Parks.
