PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES July 15, 2021 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on July 15, 2021 at 4:00pm at the Bob Rudd Community Center. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:02pm by Vice-Chair Alice Lubbers. 2. Roll Call Vice Chair Alice Lubbers, Secretary Dina Williamson Erdag, Beverly Baker, Jannis Saunders, Chair Carl Jones (arrived late), & Grounds Jimmy Martinez. Absent: Alternate Bruce Cox, Frank Carbone. Excused absent: Greg Cardarelli, Alternate Stephen Hall. 3. Approval of the agenda for July 15, 2021. The agenda was accepted without any changes. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee, meeting of May 20, 2021. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the minutes of May 20, 2021, Jannis Saunders seconded. Motion passed 4-0. 6. Announcements (first) On August 7 the DAV will be holding a Purple Heart Ceremony at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. None. 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) It was requested that the next agenda include discussion on the Volunteer Hours Log form. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES July 15, 2021 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to accept the application to the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee, due to one alternate vacancy(s). The applicants are; Eddie Williams, Jr. and Peter Nicastro. There was a ballot vote and Eddie Williams had the most votes. Carl Jones made the motion that Stephen Hall be moved into a regular member position to replace Cles Saunders, and that Eddie Williams be moved into Alternate Member The motion was seconded by Beverly Baker. Motion passed 5-0. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of certificates of appreciation and plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. Carl Jones made the motion that a Letter of Appreciation be prepared and presented to Janis Saunders to honor the service to the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee of her late husband Cles Saunders. The motion was seconded by Dina Williamson Erdag. Motion passed 5-0. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on process that could be taken for the advertising of the Contribution Wall bronze plaques. Carl Jones gave a brief history about efforts to obtain the blank bronze plates, he said that until a new source is found we are unable to continue sales of bronze plaques on the Contribution Wall. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on process that could be taken for the advertising of Columbarium spaces. Carl Jones stated that any advertising needs to be respectful, without pricing, and referring inquiries to Courtney at the Town Office. It was suggested that a flyer be prepared and available at the Town Office, an Ad be placed in the local newspaper and the Veteran newspaper, possible pictures and a story in the local newspaper, a story in the Pahrump Life magazine, news coverage on KPVM (community events segments). The following members are on this committee: Greg Cardarelli, Carl Jones, and Dina Williamson Erdag. It was suggested that this committee meet and begin work. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on the report of prior actions regarding the progress on repairs of the multi-purpose building. Jimmy Martinez shared that a Structural Engineer contract is in the approval stage, and contractors have been chosen. This committee requested that a “Big” groundbreaking event be planned that would include Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee members, Commissioners, other Veteran’s group officials, and the press and TV media. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding prior actions taken on orders for Pahrump Veteran Memorial Advisory Committee shirts. Beverly Baker announced that all shirts that were ordered have been delivered and that any new members to the Committee can contact her to order a shirt, or if any current member wants additional shirts, she can be contacted. 15. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (second). None. 16. ANNOUNCEMENTS (second). The next meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee will be on August 19, 2021 beginning at 4:00pm. 17. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:33pm. APPROVED this 2021. Chair
