Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes November 16, 2023 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Beverly Baker Vice-Chair. Location, Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the October 2023 meeting minutes and the November 2023 agenda were provided. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Beverly Baker, Vice-chair, Alice Lübbers, Secretary, Greg Cardarelli, Jerry Paradise, and Stephen Hall. Absent: Bruce Cox, Chair, Jerry Dumont, Dina Williamson-Erdag, and Eddie Williams. All were excused. Commissioner Frank Carbone was present. No Public members were in attendance. 3. Approval of the Agenda for November 16, 2023. Jerry Paradise made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). No Public present. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes for October19, 2023. Jerry Paradise made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 6. Announcements (First) • All committee members are currently in compliance with membership renewal. • Mandatory Annual Open Meeting Law training date has not been announced. Training is usually provided in the month of January. Please keep your schedules open. • Many thanks to everyone who participated in the Veterans Day graveside flag placement/pick-up event. • Picture of a sample glass cabinet and Home Depot plaque phrasing was emailed to all committee members October 19th • Wreaths Across America event is Saturday December 16th. • No Committee meeting for December due to the holidays ---PAGE BREAK--- Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes November 16, 2023 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. None 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). None. 9. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. None. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding possible Veterans Advisory Committee meeting dates announced on the Bob Rudd center electronic marque. Greg Cardarelli made the motion for Veterans Advisory Committee meeting dates announced on the Rudd Center marquee. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion passed. 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding the Home Depot bronze plaque phrasing. Pahrump Home Depot In grateful appreciation for your generous contributions to the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Veterans Advisory Committee Members Alice Lübbers stated she had emailed all committee members with the suggested phrasing October 19th right after the October meeting. She had received approval of the phrasing without changes from 5 members. No response from other members. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the phrasing as written. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved with one disapproval. 12. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second). None ---PAGE BREAK--- Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes November 16, 2023 13. COMMITTEE COMENTS (Second). Jerry Paradise provided an update on the Christmas wreath stand project. The 4H “Robotics” club wreath stand painting project November 2nd was a complete success. Approximately 110 stands were painted. The kids and adults had a great time and the pizza was excellent. 14. ANNOUNCEMENTS (Second). • Beverly Baker thanked everyone for their contributions to the annual “Thank You BBQ” for the Buildings and Grounds crew. She also thanked Jerry and Martha Dumont for donating the gas BBQ grill to the Advisory Committee. • Note: This is the Last meeting for 2023. • Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year • The next meeting of the PVMAC; January 18, 2024, at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 15.
