Page 1 October 17, 2019 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held at 4:00pm at The Multipurpose Building, Veterans Memorial, at Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Located at 751 S East St Pahrump, NV 89048. Committee members present; Alice Lübbers, Ken Hoskins, Dina Williamson-Erdag, Janice Saunders, Cles Saunders, Greg Cardarelli, Carl Jones, and Beverly Baker. Commissioner Koenig and Jimmy Martinez Building and Grounds Facility Manager and Stephen Hall Committee applicant were also present. 1. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge was recited. 2. Approval of the Agenda for 17 October 2019. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the agenda as written. Greg Cardarelli seconded the motion. All members approved. 3. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None 4. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee 19 September 2019. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the minutes as written. Ken Hoskins seconded. All members approved. 5. Announcements (first) Greg Cardarelli announced the Annual Veterans Stand-down event for 24 October 2019 at Home Depot 9:00-2:00. 6. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation regarding approval of past actions of out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or the Activities Coordinators. Beverly Baker, Activities coordinator stated the Marine Corp League will be hosting the Veterans Day event scheduled for 11 November from 10:00-12:00 at the Memorial. Also, the DAV will be hosting the Veterans Day Sundown event from 3:30-4:30. Carl Jones announced Home Depot will provide Grant monies for the completion of Pergolas #7 and Paperwork for the project is the works. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas. None 8. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation regarding an application for the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. Members reviewed the application of Stephen Hall. Dina Williamson-Erdag made the motion to approve the application. Beverly Baker seconded. All members approved. The application will be forwarded to the County Commissioners. 9. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation Pahrump Veterans Memorial Coaster Project. Alice Lübbers and Beverly Baker provided a coaster sample from “Written in Stone” Rock Etching. The coaster has the image of the “Statue of the Fallen Soldier” in the center with the phrase; “Pahrump Veterans Memorial”. The word “Pahrump” appears at the center top and the words “Veterans Memorial” appear centered at the lower portion of the circle. The committee was asked to provide further suggestions for potential coaster designs and present at the November meeting. 10. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation on providing an annual “Thank You” BBQ for the Building and Grounds Crew. All members liked the project. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the annual BBQ. Janice Saunders seconded. All members approved. Date TBD. 11. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation to consider canceling the December 2019 committee meeting due to the Holiday season. All members agreed. Dina Williamson-Erdag made the motion to approve the December meeting cancelation. Greg Cardarelli seconded. All members approved. 12. For Possible Action- Discussion and deliberation regarding the Tour of Honor Pahrump Visit. No update. October 31st will be the completion of the Tour. Pahrump Tourism office will provide the total number of Honor Tour site visits at the conclusion of the event. ---PAGE BREAK--- Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Minutes Page 3 October 17, 2019 13. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation to consider permanently changing the meeting location to the Veterans Memorial Multipurpose Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. All members agreed. Beverly Baker made the motion to permanently change the location. Dina Williamson-Erdag seconded. All members approved. 14. General Public Comment (second). None 15. Announcements (second). The Pahrump Annual Pow-Wow is scheduled for 24-26 November at Petrack Park. Greg Cardarelli announced the DAV will have a booth at the event. Carl Jones announced the DAV Trench Rats will provide graveside flag placement at Chief Tecopa Cemetery on Veterans Day. The next committee meeting is 21 November 2019, 4:00 at the Multipurpose Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. 16. ADJOURN Meeting adjourned at 4:50 APPROVED this 2019. Carl Jones, Chairman
