PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ITEM # SUBJECT February 20, 2025 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the October 2024 meeting minutes and the February 2025 agenda were available. Note: No meetings were conducted November and December 2024 and January 2025. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Chair Bruce Cox, Vice Chair Beverly Baker, Jerry Paradise, Marge Paradise, Stephen Hall, and Jerry Dumont. Absent: Eddie Williams, Alice Lübbers, and Greg Cardarelli. All were excused. Commissioner John Koenig and Jimmy Martinez, the Building and Grounds supervisor, were present. No public present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for February 20, 2025. Stephen Hall motioned to accept the agenda as written. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. No public input. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person). Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). None. 5. Committee Comments (This item is limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). None. 6. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of October 17, 2024. Marge Paradise motioned to accept the minutes as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 7. Announcements (First). • The November 2024 meeting was cancelled due to the Chair and Vice-Chair were both absent. No meeting was held in December 2024 due to the holidays. The meeting for January 2025 was cancelled and the agenda was not posted. • The mandatory annual Open Meeting Law training date will be scheduled by town administration. Announcement is expected in the second week of February. • Veterans Extravaganza will be held March 7, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Bob Rudd Center. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ITEM # SUBJECT February 20, 2025 • The Commissioners approved the following committee membership applications: Bruce Cox, Beverly Baker, Greg Cardarelli, Jerry Dumont, Alice Lübbers, Eddie Williams, Jerry Paradise, and Marg Paradise. Note: Jerry Paradise and Marg Paradise are the committee alternates. Stephen Hall membership expires December 31, 2025, and was not voted on this cycle. • The Baker to Las Vegas Fun Run is Saturday April 5, 2025, and Sunday 6, 2025. Traffic will be delayed from Baker to Pahrump and Pahrump to Vegas via Nevada Highway 160. • Welcome back Commissioner John Koenig. 8. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Activities Coordinators. None. 9. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. Members discussed purchasing a plaque for Commissioner Frank Carbone to thank him for his help and time assisting the Veterans Advisory Committee. Beverly Baker and Bruce Cox will get price estimates. Beverly Baker motioned to purchase the plaque. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion passed. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding Veterans Advisory Committee participating in the 2025 Veterans Extravaganza. Event will be held March 7, 2025. Presented by Beverly Baker. Beverly Baker discussed the Veterans Advisory Committee table set-up and brochures. Beverly will man the table during the event. 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding placing a bulletin board and a file holder for Veteran brochures in the lobby area of the building. Presented by Alice Lübbers. Alice Lübbers was absent from the meeting and was not available to answer questions. Beverly Baker motioned to move the agenda item to the March meeting. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion passed. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to appoint the following advisory committee positions: Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Marge Paradise motioned to keep the same officers. Stephen Hall seconded. Bruce Cox, Chair. Beverly Baker, Vice Chair. Alice Lübbers, Secretary. 13. General Public Comment (second). None. 14. Committee Comment (second). Announcements (second). • The next meeting of the Pahrump Veteran’s Memorial Advisory Committee will be held March 20, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. Jimmy Martinez stated the second columbarium is done. As soon as the second columbarium is full, the third columbarium will be installed. He has enough money for extra pads and curbs. Both are currently being done. 16. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bruce Cox at 4:20 p.m.
