Pahrump Public Land Advisory Committee Feb. 14, 2023 DRAFT MINUTES Pursuant to NRS, a meeƟng of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee was held on February 14, 2023 at 5pm at the Pahrump Nye County Commissioner’s Chambers 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. 5pm 2. Roll Call. Mike Zaman, Rick Treter, Jim Hannah, Robert Adams, Frank Slaghuis, BLM PFO RecreaƟon Specialist Dan Pollard, and Commissioner Deb Strickland. 3. Approval of the agenda for February 14, 2023. No changes called for. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute Ɵme limit per person.) AcƟon will not be taken on the maters considered during this period unƟl specifically included on an agenda as an acƟon item (First). None 5. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon of minutes of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee meeƟng of November 8, 2022. Jim Hannah moved to accept minutes as writen. 2nd by Rick Treter. Yes by all. 6. Announcements (First). None 7. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). Commissioner Strickland reported that Prairefire (new Frontsight owner) askes Nye County work with BLM to improve the direct road from Pahrump to Frontsight. Mike Zaman reported that NDOT’s quarry fence blocks the OST (Old Spanish Trail). Robert Adams reported that NaƟonal Public Land Day is Sept. 23rd. Frank Slaghuis checked the Town calendar and reported that day in during Pahrump’s Fall FesƟval. Rick Treter reported need for dumping enforcement. 8. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion, deliberaƟon, and possible decision regarding mustang/burro fencing. Commissioner Strickland met with BLM & NDOT. Robert Adams moved PLAC prepare a map showing condiƟon of exisƟng fences, needed repairs and new fences, and gate/catleguard locaƟons. 2nd by Frank Slaghuis. Mike Zaman moved we meet 9am on 0313 at the Carpenter Cyn. Fire StaƟon. 2nd by Jim Hannah. Yes by all. 10. For Discussion - ShooƟng range progress report by Commission Strickland. Commissioner Strickland reported we’re waiƟng for Praire Fire. Other opƟons are using $450K Nye County set aside for a County range. Murphy ConstrucƟon offered to trade their Mesquite quarry. Is this short term shooƟng range pending a permanent Bell Vista range? Jim Hannah asked about improving the road to Front Site. 11. For Discussion – Progress report on BLM approval of the Pahrump-Beatty Offroad Adventure Trail. Robert Adams reported he is working with BLM PFO Recreation Specialist on marking the detour intersection pending trail and route designations. 12. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon to set Ɵme and place for next meeƟng. Frank Slaghuis moved we meet March 14. 2nd by Rick Treter. Yes by all. 13.
