Page 1 September 18, 2019 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Park & Recreation Advisory Committee was held on September 18, 2019 at 6:30pm at the Bob Ruud Community Center located at 150 N. Hwy 160 Pahrump, NV 89060. Chairman Jaydee Webb, Secretary Helen W. Schneider, David Harris, Vanessa Simmons, Michael Hyde, and Eugene Frank. 1. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge was recited at 6:50 pm. 2. Roll Call Members present Jaydee Webb, David Harris, Helen Schneider, and Eugene Frank . Jimmy Martinez, Vanessa Simmons, Michael Hyde and Donna Cox (Nye County Board Member) were absent. Guest: Robert Valente and Jonathan Walker. 3. Approval of the Agenda for September 18, 2019. David Harris made a motion to accept the agenda as written. Eugene Frank seconded and the motion was approved 4-0. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action- Pahrump Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee needs to act on a member who hasn’t attended our meetings. Eugene Frank made a motion the remove Rich Lauver from the board for lack of attendance (8 meeting in a row). Helen Schneider seconded and the vote was 3-1. 6. Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Park & Recreation Advisory Committee meeting of August 15, 2019 and September 4, 2019. David Harris change on August 21 minutes from 6 million to 5 million from VEA for a Community Center building and no changes on September 4th minutes. Eugene Frank seconded the motion and approved 4-0. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of the Park Reservation Requests for field usage. No requests. ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 2 September 18, 2019 8. Announcements (first) Shadow Mountain players last weekend for the play “Sex Please We’re Sixty” at Treasury RV Park. 9. Committee Comments. None. 10. For Possible Action- Discussion and deliberation regarding the Valley Electric Community Center. No maintance or repairs are mention in the LOI. The County Commissioners/ Town Board Members want to be the group that works with VEA. The Commissioner would like to take the 5 million and put something on the fairgrounds and they do not need the committee’s help. We as the Park & Recreation Advisory Committee will still see what the community wants at their community center and fairgrounds. We need maps of all the parks. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Fairgrounds. Purpose-To obtains development updates and current status and discusses fairground development progress. No updates. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Kellogg Park Development Project. Purpose – To obtain development updates and current status and discuss park development progress. Plans for Phase 1, and other park related subject matter. No updates. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding Ian Deutch, Petrack, Simikins, and Blosser parks, etc. Ian Deutch Memorial Park – Soccer is using field 3 & 4. Fall baseball is using fields 1&2. Lights are working great. Petrack Park – none Simikins Park- none Blosser Park- none ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 3 September 18, 2019 14. Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding July 4, 2021. Discussion on Booth space fees 10 x 10 space for $25.00 for one day and $50.00 for two days for 4th of July. 10 x 20 booth space $50.00 a day and 10 x 30 for $75.00 a day. A discussion for all funds collected could buy playground equipment for Blosser Park which has no playground equipment. 15. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation regarding Movies in Park for 2019 and 2020. What did the group make this year on the snack bar? $1,500.00 was budgeted last year for the movies. 16. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of the Fall Festival. The board set up a schedule for those present with the rest of the board added later. Our table will be at the main entrance to the Bob Ruud Center. 17. General Public Comment (second). None. 18. Announcements (second). None. 19. ADJOURMENT Meeting adjourned at 8:01 pm. Our next regular meeting is October 16, 2019 at the Bob Ruud Center at 6:30pm. This meeting will be in Room B.
