Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes September 19, 2024 1 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the August 2024 meeting minutes and the September 2024 agenda were available. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Bruce Cox, Chair, Beverly Baker, Vice-chair, Alice Lübbers, Secretary, Jerry Paradise, Greg Cardarelli, and Jerry Dumont. Absent: Eddie Williams, Stephen Hall, and Dina Williamson-Erdag all were excused. Commissioner Frank Carbone was present. Jimmy Martiez, Building and Grounds supervisor was absent. No Public present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for September 19, 2024. Jerry Paradise made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion was approved. No public input. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). None. No Public input. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of August 15, 2024. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Jerry Dumont seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 6. Announcements (First). • Annual Thank You BBQ Date, Thursday, October 24, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Committee members need to be at the building by 9:30 a.m. for setup. • Fall Festival dates: September 19 – 22, 2024. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of- cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Activities Coordinators. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). • 911 Flag project updates by Jimmy Martinez. Jimmy will provide updates at the October meeting. 9. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. None. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding the location for the new structure to hold the outdoor glass marquee and other items. Jimmy Martinez was not available to answer questions. Members requested this agenda item be placed on the October meeting agenda for Jimmy’s input. 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding Veterans Advisory Committee hosting a Veterans Day event on November 11, 2024, by Beverly Baker. The members thought it was a great idea. Greg Cardarelli made the motion for the committee to host the event. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion passed. 12. Discuss updates for October Thank you BBQ for Building and Grounds crew. Date: Thursday, October 24, 2024. Jerry Paradise stated $320 dollars had been collected for the BBQ. Great job everyone! 13. General Public Comment (second). No public input 14. Committee Comment (second). None 15. Announcements(second). • The next meeting will be October 17, 2024, 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 16. Adjournment.
