Page 1 May 22, 2019 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Park & Recreation Advisory Committee was held on May 22, 2019 at 6:30 PM at the Bob Ruud Community Center located at 150 N. Hwy 160 Pahrump, NV 89060. Chairman Jaydee Webb, Secretary Helen W. Schneider, David Harris, Jennifer Nation, Rich Lauver and Eugene Frank. 1. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge was recited at 6:30 pm. 2. Roll Call Members present David Harris, Helen Schneider, and Eugene Frank. Jaydee Webb, Jennifer Nation, Rich Lauver, Matt Luis and Donna Cox (Nye County Board Member) were absent. Guest: Alicia Lewis, Karen Duryea, Janice Mauirizio, Jimmy Mayer, Mathew Clark, Gary Bennett, Matt Clark, Amy Carlson, Brain Hagg, Paula Elefante, and Jim Hannah. 3. Approval of the Agenda for May 22, 2019. David Harris made a motion to accept the agenda with number 7 moved up to number 5. Helen Schneider seconded and the motion was approved 3-0. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation regarding Movies in Park for 2019 and selection of a non-profit organization to run the snack bar. Mary Poppins Returns will be the first movie – June 1. Jr. Trojan Soccer Club was the first group chosen and they will run the snack bar. Contact person: Amy Carlson 775/764-7350. The second group will be Sleep in Heavenly Peace was chosen as a back-up group. 6. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Park & Recreation Advisory Committee April 17, 2019. Eugene Frank made a motion to approve the minutes of April 17, 2019 as written. David Harris seconded the motion and approved 3-0. ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 2 May 22, 2019 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of filed allocations for field usage. Fall sports schedules are to be turned in next month (May). We will review them at June meeting. Helen Schneider made a motion to approve the Connie Mack baseball schedule (which involves 31 children). David Harris seconded and the motion was approved 3-0. 8. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to review and possibly appoint an applicant for the Pahrump Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and placing a member on current board. No applications will be put on next meeting agenda. Motion made by David Harris to appoint new board member next month. Seconded by Helen Schneider and approved 3-0. 9. Announcements (first) Kellogg Park ground breaking was today. Helen Schneider and Eugene Frank attended the ground breaking. Eugene Frank would like to know the order at which Phase 1 A will be done. Phase 1 A should include parking lot, restrooms, walking trails, pickle ball courts, and dog runs. We would like the Project Manager to attend our next meeting. 10. Committee Comments. We would like Matt and the Project manager for Kellogg at our next meeting. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Fairgrounds. Purpose-To obtains development updates and current status and discusses fairground development progress. Drainage study should be done. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Kellogg Park Development Project. Purpose – To obtain development updates and current status and discuss park development progress. Plans for Phase 1, and other park related subject matter. Kellogg Park- a drawing of the park was in the newspaper and ground breaking was today. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding Ian Deutch, Petrack, Simikins, and Blosser parks, etc. Ian Deutch Park – Baseball season had fields that were good. Simikins Park and Blosser Park- none ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 3 May 22, 2019 14. Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding July 4, 2020. None 15. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation Pickle Ball. When will the courts be ready for pickle ball and when will the resurfacing be done for pickle ball and tennis. 16. General Public Comment (second). Heavenly Peace workshop at 2731 Woodchip will have a volunteer work day 6/15/19. 17. Announcements (second). None. 18. ADJOURMENT Meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm. Our next regular meeting is June 19, 2019 at the Bob Ruud Center at 6:30pm. This meeting will be in Room B. APPROVED this 2019. Chair
