Pahrump Public Land Advisory Committee July 11, 2023 DRAFT MINUTES Pursuant to NRS, a meeƟng of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee was held on July 11, 2023 at the Veterans Memorial Building, 751 East Street, Pahrump, NV 89048 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order at 5:05 with no air condiƟoning. Rick Treter leŌ. 2. Roll Call. Mike Zaman, Frank Slaghuis, Robert Adams. Guests Jim Hannah, Peggy Muller, DL Mueller, Dawn Duncan. 3. Approval of the agenda for July 11, 2023. Robert Adams asked we remove items 8 & 9. No objecƟons to the removal or calls to further change the agenda. 4. General Public Comment (Three-minute Ɵme limit per person.) AcƟon will not be taken on the maters considered during this period unƟl specifically included on an agenda as an acƟon item (First). Dawn Duncan expressed concerns regarding the proposed lithium mining around Ash Meadows. 5. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon of minutes of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee meeƟngs of: a. April 11, 2023. Discussion determined Jim Hannah’s parƟcipaƟon as a member hadn’t changed any outcomes. Robert Adams moved to approve. 2nd by Frank Slaghuis, b. May 09, 2023. Robert Adams moved to approve. 2nd by Frank Slaghuis. Yes by all. c. May 15, 2023. Frank Slaghuis moved to approve. 2nd by Robert Adams. Yes by all. 6. Announcements (First). Robert Adams reported 2 gates at US95 & Pole Line Rd has been replaced with catleguards and 1 of 2 kiosks erected. 8. Report from Commissioner Debra Strickland regarding the NACO Western Conference. Removed. 9. Report from Commissioner Debra Strickland regarding shooƟng range progress. Removed. 10. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon regarding: a. Naming the Pahrump-Beaty Offroad Adventure Trail. Frank Slaghuis moved we name it the BATTLEBORN TRAIL. 2nd by Robert Adams. Yes by all. b. How to mark the designated route. Design insights and examples found here. Frank Slaghuis moved we reference the Great Trails Handbook linked in the agenda item (Great Trails Guidebook – NOHVCC ) . 2nd by Robert Adams. Yes by all. 11. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon to make recommendaƟons to the BOCC for appointment from the following list of applicants: Cali Antonia Barquin, Jim Hannah, Timothy Davidheiser. Of the 3 applicants, only Jim Hannah was present. Frank Slaghuis moved we recommend Jim Hannah to fill the seat. 2nd by Robert Adams. Yes by all. Timothy Davidheiser had emailed the Secretary that he could not atend this meeƟng. His approval was moved to the August meeƟng. Robert Adams moved we conƟnue the item to fill the 2 alternate seats to August 8th. 2nd by Frank Slaghuis.
