PAHRUMP NUCLEAR WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES October 08, 2021 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Nuclear Waste & Environmental Advisory Committee was held on October 08, 2021 at 11:30am at the Bob Ruud Community Center. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The Pledge was recited. 2. Roll Call Bill Stremmel, Dale Griffith, Bob Adams, John Pawlak, Deb Perna. 3. Approval of the Agenda for October 08, 2021. 5 yay/0 nay 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Nuclear Waste and Environmental Advisory Committee (PNWEAC) meeting of, May 21, 2021. 5 yay/0 nay 6. Announcements (first) None. 7. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for the future.) None. 8. Presentation – Discussion regarding future meeting locations. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation – Regarding 2022 Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary positions for the Pahrump Nuclear Waste and Environmental Advisory Committee. John indicated we will vote in the next couple months, by December. Vote to table name recommendations to November. 5 yay/0 nay 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the 2022 work plan for the Pahrump Nuclear Waste and Environmental Advisory Committee. Bob brought up urban conservation programs as a discussion item for 2022. Dale mentioned the issue of salt cedars. John mentioned we could work together with the conservation committee he also chairs. John asked about scheduling another Earth Day for 2022. 5 yay/0 nay 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding a title to better reflect the mission of the advisory committee (Pahrump Environmental Management Advisory Committee) as voted on by its members. John will place on the BOCC agenda. Formal change to PEMAC has not been completed. 5 yay/0 nay 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding 2022 Earth Day/Arbor Day event. John asked about scheduling another Earth Day for 2022. The consensus of the group is to move forward. April 23, 2022. Ian Deutsch Memorial Park. Traditional Earth Day Event. No grab and go this time, vendors, and booths. Will also give the annual environmental award. 5 yay/0 nay 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding future informational presentations to the Board of County Commissioners. John asked about scheduling another Earth Day for 2022. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation – Regarding Environment issues in Southern Nevada and within the Town of Pahrump to include comments to the Board of Nye County Commissioners. Discussion regarding water growing population issues in the County and State of Nevada, the committee needs to take a more active role in educating the community. Discussion to be tabled. 15. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation – Regarding Nuclear issues in Southern Nevada and within the Town of Pahrump to include comments to the Board of Nye County Commissioners. Bob brought up solar plant concerns and the BOCC approvals of these. Bill brought up environmental concerns with respect to the solar project going in near Tecopa. John working with Invivisible.org. Meeting at the Museum Sunday, November 14th from 2pm to 4pm. 16. General Public Comment (Second) None. 17. Announcements (second). Next meeting Friday, November 5th at 11:30am, same location. 18.
