PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES September 16, 2021 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on September 16, 2021, at 4:00pm at the Town Annex Building. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00pm by Chair Carl Jones. 2. Roll Call Those in attendance were Chair Carl Jones, Vice Chair Alice Lubbers, Secretary Dina Williamson Erdag, Beverly Baker, Greg Cardarelli, Eddie Williams, Jannis Saunders, Stephen Hall, Bruce Cox, and Liaison Frank Carbone. 3. Approval of the agenda for September 16, 2021. The agenda was accepted without any changes. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee, meeting of August 19, 2021. Stephen Hall made a motion to approve the August 19, 2021, minutes, Alice Lubbers seconded. Motion passed 7-0. 6. Announcements (first) Beverly Baker said she was happy to see all members and alternates in attendance. Greg Cardarelli said he had received a donation of a tank model that needs to be assembled, and he will pass it along to the PVMAC Donations Committee. Bruce Cox said that he knows of other things that will be donated and he will direct those items to the PVMAC Donations Committee. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) Carl Jones requested an agenda item for the next meeting regarding preparing a flyer and/or other marketing material to advertise the Columbarium. Alice Lubbers requested an agenda item for the next meeting to decide if there will be PVMAC meetings in November and December 2021. 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of certificates of appreciation and plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. A Certificate of Appreciation and a Letter of Commendation to Cless Saunders was presented to his widow Jannis Saunders. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the participation of Committee members at the Fall Festival on September 23-26 at the Advisory Committee booths being provided by the Town of Pahrump. There was general discussion about what members were expected to do while in the Advisory Committee booths. Carl Jones will request that Town staff prepare a flyer about the PVMAC that can be distributed at the booth. Carl Jones also volunteered to coordinate coverage at the booth by PVMAC members during the Fall Festival. The following members said they could help with coverage Carl Jones, Stephen Hall, Eddie Williams, and Beverly Baker. 11. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (second). None. 12. ANNOUNCEMENTS (second). Alice Lubbers said there will be a DAV hosted Memorial for a Navy Veteran at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial on 10/2/21 at 10:00am. Alice Lubbers said that the DAV will also be hosting a Veterans Day event at the PVM. Carl Jones said that the VFW Riders have lost two people and are trying to setup an event to memorialize them. Stephen Hall said that on the following Friday at 4:00pm the VFW will have a POW-MIA Ceremony.
