PVMAC Meeting Minutes November 21, 2019 1 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee was held on November 21, 2019, at 4:00pm at The Multipurpose Building, Veterans Memorial, Chief Tecopa Cemetery, located at 751 S East St Pahrump, NV 89048. Committee members present; Alice Lübbers, Ken Hoskins, Janice Saunders, Cles Saunders, Carl Jones, and Beverly Baker. Members absent; Dina Williamson-Erdag, Commissioner Koenig, and Greg Cardarelli. All excused. Stephen Hall, Committee applicant was present. 1. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge was recited. 2. Approval of the Agenda for November 21, 2019. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the agenda as written. Cles Saunders seconded the motion. All members approved. 3. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None 4. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee October 17, 2019. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the minutes as written except for one typo in paragraph number six. Cles Saunders seconded. All members approved. 5. Announcements (first) No Committee meeting for December due to Holiday season. All future meetings will be held at the Multipurpose building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. DAV BBQ at Pahrump VA clinic is scheduled for March 2020. Veterans Extravaganza is scheduled for March 6th at the Rudd Center Nye County Coalition annual Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled for November 28th from 11:00-2:00 pm at the Coalition Center. 6. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation regarding approval of past actions of out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or the Activities Coordinators. Carl Jones stated no dates have been given for future Open Meeting Law training. 8. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation to accept or reject applications for the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. The applicants are; Dina Williamson-Erdag and Ken Hoskins. Member applicant renewal for Dina Williamson-Erdag and Ken Hoskins. Both applications were reviewed by committee members. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve both applications. Janice Saunders seconded. All members approved. The applications will be forwarded to the County Commissioners. 9. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation Pahrump Veterans Memorial Coaster Project. The sample coaster of “the statue of the fallen soldier” was provide by Alice Lübbers and Beverly Baker. Cles Saunders made the motion to approve the coaster. Ken Hoskins seconded. All members approved. The coasters will be provided as thank you gifts in recognition of assistance to Committee projects. 10. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation on the 2020 date for the annual “Thank You” BBQ for the Building and Grounds Crew. Schedule date is 16 April 2020 from 12:00-2:00 at the Multipurpose Building. The April Committee meeting will follow the BBQ at 2:30. Cles Saunders made the motion to approve the BBQ date and committee meeting time. Janice Saunders seconded. All members approved. 11. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation for Committee SOP review and revisions. All members present were provided copies of the SOP’s. Dina Williamson-Erdag had requested all members read, review, and make amendments prior to the January 2020 meeting. 12. For Possible Action- Discussion and deliberation regarding the Tour of Honor Pahrump Visit. Alex Cross, Pahrump Tourism office had stated approximately 50 gift bags were provided to Tour of Honor riders. She will provide an approximate number of total visitors when she receives the information from the National Tour of Honor commander. ---PAGE BREAK--- PVMAC Meeting Minutes November 21, 2019 3 13. General Public Comment (second). None 14. Announcements (second). The Pahrump Annual Pow-Wow is scheduled for 24-26 November at Petrack Park. Carl Jones thanked everyone for their hard work for Veterans Day and the past year. The next committee meeting is 16 January 2020, 4:00 at the Multipurpose Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. 15.
