PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Veterans Memorial Building 751 East Street, Pahrump, NV 89048 January 15, 2026 4:00 p.m. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the November 20, 2025 meeting minutes and the January 15, 2026 agenda were available. Note, No meeting in December due to the holidays. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Bruce Cox, Chair, Alice Lüubbers, Secretary, Jerry Paradise, Marge Paradise, Sterling Ripley, and Eddie Williams. Absent: Beverly Baker, Stephen Hall, and Frank Carbone, all excused Commissioner John Koenig, County Commissioner and Jimmy Martinez, Building and Grounds supervisor were present. No Public present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for January 15, 2026. Sterling Ripley made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. No public input. 4. For Possible Action - Election of Chair of the Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. Alice Lüubbers nominated Bruce Cox as the Chairman. Eddie Williams made the motion to select Bruce Cox. Alice Lüubbers seconded. Motion passed. No Public input. 5. For Possible Action - Election of the Vice-Chairman of the Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. Bruce Cox nominated Beverly Baker as the Vice-Chairman. Bruce Cox made the motion to select Beverly Baker. Marge Paradise seconded. Motion passed. No Public input. 6. For Possible Action - Election of the Secretary of the Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. Marge Paradise nominated Alice Lübbers as the Secretary. Jerry Paradise made the motion to select Alice Lübbers. Eddie Williams seconded. Motion passed. Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). None. 8. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes for November 20, 2025. Sterling Ripley made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Marge Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 9. Announcements (First). • The annual Veterans Extravaganza is March 6, 2026, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Bob Rudd Center. • The annual Baker to Vegas Fun Run: March 28 -29, 2026. Avoid traveling from Baker, CA to Pahrump and Pahrump to Vegas via 160. Traffic will be one lane. • Subcommittee assignments sign-up list is available. • Suggestions for the Veterans Advisory committee twentieth anniversary • Annual Thank you BBQ October 22, 2026 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, or Activities Coordinator. None. 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding a revision in committee By-Laws for the secretary to chair committee meetings in the absence of the committee Chairman and Vice- chairman. By-Law citation was not available. Agenda item will be moved to February committee meeting per Bruce Cox, Chairman. 12. Committee Comments (This item is limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). 2026 Anniversary event suggestion. Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of the history of the Veterans Advisory committee. Possibly present at the Library and Commissioners’ meeting. Bruce Cox suggested presenting at the Pahrump Museum. Discuss Annual Thank You BBQ co-organizers, Stephen Hall and Eddie Williams. Organize room set-up, menu, BBQ tank gas, ice, plates, silverware, napkins, table covers, ice rafts for drinks and food, building reservations, attendance numbers, etc. Eddie Williams stated he will co-organize with Stephen Hall and discuss the Event with Jimmy Martinez. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and plaques to be presented by the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. None. 14. Announcements (second). • Bruce Cox discussed the Pahrump Special Olympics events for 2026. • Volunteers are needed for Basketball, Bowling, and Track & Field events. • Basketball January – March • Track & Field March – June • Bowling July – September • Point of Contact is Bruce Cox for volunteers. 17. The next meeting of the PVMAC; February 19, 2026, 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 18. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bruce Cox at 4:30.
