PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES January 21, 2021 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on January 21, 2021 at 4:00pm at the Bob Rudd Community Center. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00pm. 2. Roll Call Those in attendance were Carl Jones, Alice Lubbers, Dina Williamson Erdag, and Stephen Hall. Beverly Baker was excused absent. Unexcused absent were Greg Cardarelli, Cles Saunders, Jannis Saunders, Bruce Cox, and the Commissioner Liaison. 3. Approval of the Agenda for January 21, 2021. There were no changes to the agenda. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting of October 08, 2020. Stephen Hall made the motion to accept the October 8, 2020 minutes, Alice Lubbers seconded the motion. Motion passed 4-0. 6. Announcements (first) Jimmy Martinez from Building & Grounds announced that Courtney Kenney is the new town contact for the Veterans Memorial. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. None. 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) A) It was requested that the OML attendance dates be updated. B) It was requested that the Member Roster be updated. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES January 21, 2021 C) It was requested that at the next meeting the sub-committee assignments be updated. D) It was requested that the attendance guidelines in the Bylaws are reviewed and stressed. E) It was requested that the SOP’s and data shown on the PVMAC website is accurate and up to date. F) An Annual Report on the 2020 activities and achievements of the PVMAC is due to the BOCC, and the committee will need to help prepare the data. This should be an agenda item for the next meeting. 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of certificates of appreciation and plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. It was requested that certificates of appreciation be prepared for Matt Luis and John Koenig. If members have any statements or special notations added to the certificate, they are to contact the Secretary with that information. The deadline for this action will be the April meeting. The motion was made by Alice Lubbers and seconded by Stephen Hall to present a plaque to John Koenig. Motion passed 3-1. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on setting a date for a program to officially recognize the individuals who have made the donation of the commemorative benches that have been placed in the Pahrump Veterans Memorial. No action currently. Please place this item on the next agenda. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and report of graveside wreath placements by Pahrump Silver Tappers during the month of December 2020. This action items were completed and went very well with the help of the VFW, PVMAC, County Staff and the Nevada Silver Tappers. It is recommended that next year there be some type of holder for the wreaths so that they are not just flat on the gravestone. The wreaths were collected, and they are in the storage room so that they can be used again next year. It was recommended that the Silver Tappers be contacted in April or May 2021 for a plan to place the wreaths again in December 2021. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on the possible design, type, and purchase of Advisory Committee shirts. Information was sent to Cles about the current shirts and the insignia. We are waiting for a presentation of information from Cles, and Stephen Hall has a local resource for custom shirts. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to nominate and elect: 1) The Chair of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee; 2) The Vice Chair of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee; 3) And the Secretary of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES January 21, 2021 The motion was made by Alice Lubbers and seconded by Stephen Hall to elect Carl Jones Chair. Motion carried 4-0. The motion was made by Carl Jones and seconded by Stephen Hall to elect Alice Lubbers Vice Chair. Motion carried 4-0. The motion was made by Alice Lubbers and seconded by Stephen Hall to elect Dina Williamson Erdag Secretary. Motion carried 4-0. 14. General Public Comment (second). None. 15. Announcements (second). Alice Lubbers said to cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Carl Jones said it would be a good idea for this committee to have some type of an “In Kind” form to track members time on projects and events. It was recommended that Courtney Kenney from the Town Office attend a future meeting to introduce herself and to meet the members. The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 18, 2021 the location to be the Ruud Center. 16. ADJOURN The meeting was adjourned at 4:52pm. APPROVED this 2017. Chair
