Pahrump Public Land Advisory Committee January 10, 2023 DRAFT MINUTES Pursuant to NRS, a meeƟng of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee was held on January 10, 2023, at 5:00pm at the Pahrump Nye County Commissioner’s Chambers 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. 5pm 2. Roll Call. Mike Zaman, Rick Treter, Jim Hannah, Robert Adams, Frank Slaghuis, BLM PFO RecreaƟon Specialist Dan Pollard, and Commissioner Deb Strickland. 3. Approval of the agenda for January 10, 2023. No changes called for. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute Ɵme limit per person.) AcƟon will not be taken on the maters considered during this period unƟl specifically included on an agenda as an acƟon item (First). Dan Bohannon, turn on mics. Sheyl Varkalis spoke represenƟng CleanUp Pahrump. She reported they picked up 75 shopping carts and picked up 13 tons of trash last year. They need more help. 5. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon of minutes of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee meeƟng of November 8, 2022. Jim Hannah moved to accept minutes as writen. 2nd by Rick Treter. Yes by all. 6. Announcements (First). 7. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). Commissioner Strickland reported that Prairiefire (new Frontsight owner) askes Nye County work with BLM to improve the direct road from Pahrump to Frontsight. Mike Zaman reported that NDOT’s quarry fence blocks the OST (Old Spanish Trail). Robert Adams reported that NaƟonal Public Land Day is Sept. 23rd. Frank Slaghuis checked the Town calendar and reported that day in during Pahrump’s Fall FesƟval. Rick Treter reported need for dumping enforcement. 8. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion, deliberaƟon, and possible decision to discuss and approve PPLAC’s 2022 year-end report. Rick Treter moved to open discussion. 2nd by Frank Slaghuis. Public comment; Tim Bohannan pointed out solar project threats to OST. Gina Merith stated OST is a historic mine claim LR2000. Jim Hannah moved we approve conƟnuing 2022 goals plus add 2. Rick Treter 2nd. Yes by all. 10. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon to elect 2023 PPLAC officers. Jim Hannah moved re-elecƟon of exisƟng officers. 2nd by Rick Treter. Yes by all. 11. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon to prioriƟze loops for possible BLM approval of the Pahrump-Beaty Offroad Adventure Trail. Jim Hannah moved we prioriƟze Pah-Bea Phase 1 with DETOUR. 2nd by Frank Slaghuis. Public comment by Tim Bohannan. Yes by all. 12. For Possible AcƟon – Discussion and deliberaƟon to set Ɵme and place for next meeƟng. Rick Treter moved we meet February 14th. 2nd by Mike Zaman. Yes by all. 13. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second) Chas Buellow from Boy Scouts Troop 2444 asked for projects for merit badges. Jim Hannah suggested marking trails.
