Page 1 June 19, 2019 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Park & Recreation Advisory Committee was held on June 19, 2019 at 6:30pm at the Bob Rudd Building Community Center located at 150 N. Hwy 160 Pahrump, NV 89060. Chairman Jaydee Webb, Secretary Helen W. Schneider, David Harris, Rich Lauver and Eugene Frank. 1. Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge was recited at 6:31 pm. 2. Roll Call Members present David Harris, Helen Schneider, and Jaydee Webb. Eugene Frank, Rich Lauver, Matt Luis and Donna Cox (Nye County Board Member) were absent. Guest: Rosalee Clasen, Vanessa Simmons, Jimmy Martinez (filling in for Matt) , Michelle Blodgett, Chane Roberts, Dusty Paul, Johnny O’Neal, and Caroline Thacker . 3. Approval of the Agenda for June 19, 2019. David Harris made a motion to accept the agenda with number 7 moved up to number 5. Helen Schneider seconded and the motion was approved 3-0. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation regarding Movies in Park for 2019. Movies start at 8:15 pm. Good attendance at the movies and the sound is excellent. 6. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Park & Recreation Advisory Committee May 22, 2019. David Harris made a motion to approve the minutes of May 22, 2019 as written. Jaydee Webb seconded the motion and approved 5-0. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of filed allocations for field usage. Fall sports schedules were turned into Michelle Blodgett. We review them and the two soccer groups work out their schedules. All the schedules were approved. Anyone else needing the fields in the Fall with have to work within the new schedule approved by the Park & Recreation Advisory broad. ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 2 June 19, 2019 David Harris made a motion to approve the new fall schedule as revised by the groups attending the meeting. Jaydee Webb seconded and the motion was approved 3-0. 8. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to review and possibly appoint an applicant for the Pahrump Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee and placing a member on current board. The two applicants Vanessa Simmons and Michael Hyde were asked to give the board an little more information about themselves. Helen Schneider made a motion to add Vanessa Simmons and Michael Hyde as alternates to the board. David Harris seconded the motion and was approved 3-0. 9. Announcements (first) Three Days of Fun with fireworks on July 4th and two movies with one on July 5th and the second movie on July 6th. 10. Committee Comments. None. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Fairgrounds. Purpose-To obtains development updates and current status and discusses fairground development progress. Drainage study is still in progress. BLM and County still work on land. Fireworks will be going off June 28-29th, and July 4-6. Fairground Board and Park & Recreation Advisory Board should be working together on the fairground. The fairgrounds need to service all the residents of the county and the Pahrump citizens. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the Kellogg Park Development Project. Purpose – To obtain development updates and current status and discuss park development progress. Plans for Phase 1, and other park related subject matter. Project is moving along. Dirt is being ready for the walking trails and you can see were some of the things are going into the park. Ed Martinz is the project manager and we would like him to attend our meeting along with the park plans. Trails and parking lot should be first. Second should be the restrooms, pickle ball courts, dog runs, and picnic area with a playground. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding Ian Deutch, Petrack, Simikins, and Blosser parks, etc. Petrack Park – Tennis/Pickle ball courts are open, but you must call phone number to get the code to unlock the courts. ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 3 June 19, 2019 Simkins Park- Park guests and neighbors love the new lights. Blosser Park- still a park, but dog owners are using the park more than any other citizens. 14. Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding July 4, 2020. None. Town manager needs to tell us what groups can participants. 15. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation Pickle Ball. Sign says courts. Tennis and pickle ball can use the courts. 16. General Public Comment (second). None. 17. Announcements (second). None. 18. ADJOURMENT Meeting adjourned at 7:43 pm. Our next regular meeting is July 17, 2019 at the Bob Ruud Center at 6:30pm. This meeting will be in Room B.
