PAHRUMP PARK AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES August 18, 2021 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Park and Recreation Advisory Committee was held on August 18, 2021 at 6:30pm at the Bob Ruud Community Center. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The pledge was recited at 6:32 PM 2. Roll Call Bonnie participated via phone. Vanessa Simmons and David Harris were absent. Brian, Pamela, and Helen were in attendance. 3. Approval of the Agenda for August 18, 2021. Motion to approve the agenda made by Bonnie and seconded by Brian. Passed 4. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) None. 5. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). Tim Bohannon with Nye County Parks and Recreation sat in for Donna Cox. 6. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Park and Recreation Advisory Committee, meeting of July 21, 2021. Motioned by Pam and Seconded by Bonnie. Passed. 7. Announcements (first) None. 8. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of any Park Reservation Requests. No events scheduled in October and December. Events were rescinded. 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the progress and/or any updates on the development of the Fairgrounds. After committee discussion – Public Discussion. New update per Jimmy is that we are waiting on the environmental study. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the progress and/or any updates on the development of Kellogg Park. After committee discussion – Public Discussion. Per Jimmy: The dog park is almost in; restrooms are done, and plans will be here next month. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the progress and/or any updates on the other parks in Pahrump (Ian Deutch Memorial Park, Simkins Park and Blosser Park). After committee discussion – Public Discussion. Per Jimmy: Skate Park is open, repairs are under way resulting from flood, little league is starting soon. Ian Deutch had no flooding. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to approve the finalized 2021 August- December field allocation schedules for Ian Deutch Memorial Park, Simkins Park, and Petrack Park. Pam made the motion to approve, and Bonnie seconded. Passed 4-0 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of Movies in the Park for 2021. After committee discussion – Public Discussion. Attendance was low when school resumed and suggestion going from 10 movies to 9. No changes were made. 14. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (second). Question asked regarding the containment of the wild horses. 15. ANNOUNCEMENTS (second). Jimmy reported that the Fall Festival Commissioner’s would like committees to set up booths 16. ADJOURNMENT Next meeting September 15th at 6:30pm @ Chamber APPROVED this 2021. Chair
