Page 1 March 21, 2019 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on March 21, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Chief Tecopa Cemetery, Veterans Multipurpose Room, 751 East Street, Pahrump, NV 89048. 1. Pledge of Allegiance ● The meeting was called to order by Committee Chair Carl Jones at 4:00pm and the Pledge was recited. 2. Roll Call ● Present: Carl Jones, Ken Hoskin, Beverly Baker, Greg Cardarelli, and John Koenig, Matt Lewis, and Jannis & Cles Saunders (visitors) ● Absent: Ashley Hall (excused - Tardy), Alice Lubbers (excused), Dina Williamson- Erdag (excused) 3. Approval of the Agenda for March 21, 2019. ● Beverly Baker made motion to approve agenda as written, Greg Cardarelli seconded. All present approved. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). ● No public present. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation – approval of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee, meeting of March 21 2019. ● Beverly Baker made a motion to approve minutes, Greg Cardarelli seconded, all present approved. 6. Announcements (first) ● DAV is hosting a BBQ outside of the VA clinic for veteran patients and personnel on April 19th. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation – approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinator. ● None reported. 8. Committee Comments (This item is limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). • Beverly 9. For Possible Action – regarding certificates of appreciation and plaques to be presented from the PVMAC. • No current awards. ---PAGE BREAK--- Page 2 March 21, 2019 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding updates of the following PVMAC projects/subcommittees: Storage building project & Memorial Benches. ● Carl Jones is still waiting to hear back from the company about the exact shipping costs of the memorial benches based on ordering multiple. He will update at the next meeting after he discusses with the company. ● Carl Jones noted that we are still waiting on one more bid for the storage building. Will update next month. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding Rock sign placement. • Beverly Baker announced that Alice and she had met with Rick the rock guy to determine the size and color of the stone to be placed. The committee reviewed the sites for the rock sign. Matt Lewis noted that the fence could be cut so that the rock is visible. Ken Hoskins Suggested the rock be set in the middle of the drive area for visibility. Beverly made a motion to put the rock sign on the inside of the fence with a hole in the fence for visibility. Greg seconded. All present approved. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding updates on Wreaths Across America project. • Carl called and spoke again about the Wreaths Across America project. The committee raised the question of disposal of the wreaths once they start to wilt and Carl Jones volunteered to do so. The committee discussed moving forward with that project and additional information will be presented at the next meeting after Carl Jones speaks with a representative once again. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding Richard Goldstein resignation • Richard Goldstein did not turn in an official resignation letter but Beverly Baker motioned to accept his resignation. Greg seconded and all present approved. 14. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding elections for the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. • Elections held. Carl Jones and Alice Lubbers nominated for Chair, Carl Jones elected chair. Beverly Baker nominated for Vice Chair but she declined. Allice Lubbers only nominee for Vice Chair, she will continue that role. Ashley Hall the only nominee for Secretary, she will also continue that role. 15. Announcements (second). ● Ashley Hall announced the NyECC SAFE Math-a-Thon Saturday April 6th at 9am at the NyECC building. 17. ADJOURN ● Carl Jones announced that the next meeting is April 18th at 4:00 pm at the Bob Ruud Community Center and adjourned the meeting at 5:00 pm.
