PVMAC Meeting Minutes 23 September 2020 1 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on September 23, 2020 at 4:00pm at the Bob Ruud Community Center, located at 150 N Hwy 160 Pahrump, NV 89060. Committee members present; Carl Jones, Alice Lübbers, Jannis Saunders, Cles Saunders, Beverly Baker, Greg Cardarelli, and Stephen Hall. Commissioner Koenig and Jimmy Martinez, Buildings and Grounds Supervisor present. Members absent; Dina Williamson-Erdag, excused. No Members of the Public were present. Note: Due the COVID-19 pandemic the Veterans Advisory Committee has not conducted meetings since February 20, 2020. 1. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance The Pledge was recited. 2. Approval of the Agenda for 23 September 2020. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the agenda as written. Carl Jones seconded the motion. All members approved. 3. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None 4. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee 20 February 2020. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the minutes as written. Cles Saunders seconded. All members approved. 5. Announcements (first) The Nye County Coalition will be serving Holiday meals via “drive-thru” this year for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. No inside dining due to the COVID-19 “Safe Distancing” mandate. The Veterans Stand-down event scheduled for October 15th has been canceled due to COVID-19 Committee membership applications are due for the following members: Alice Lübbers, Beverly Baker, Carl Jones, Greg Cardarelli, Jannis Saunders, and Cles Saunders. Completed applications need to be turned-in before October 4th for placement on the Commissioners’ November agenda. A Pahrump Silver Tappers representative will be at the October meeting to discuss “Wreaths Across America” program for the Chief Tecopa cemetery. ---PAGE BREAK--- PVMAC Meeting Minutes 23 September 2020 2 6. For Possible Action – Discussion and Deliberation regarding approval of past actions of out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or the Activities Coordinators. None 7. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas. None 8. For Possible Discussion – Report from Jimmy Martinez regarding the Multipurpose building at Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Jimmy Martinez reported structural damage to the Cemetery’s Multipurpose building. There is a horizontal wall separation in one corner of the building and numerous cracks in the concrete floor. The damage was noticed last week, and the cause is unknown. Possible earthquake damage or no rebar in the concrete? The building cannot be used until it has been inspected by safety and construction agencies. Jimmy will inform the committee with the findings. Date for building repairs TBD. The Advisory committee will meet at the Bob Rudd center until repairs are completed. 9. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation on the resignation letter submitted by PVMAC alternate position member Ken Hoskin. With a heavy heart Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the resignation letter. Cles Saunders seconded the motion. All members approved. Ken has been on the committee for 12 plus years and will be missed. 10. For Possible Action- Discussion and Deliberation on setting a date for a program to officially recognize the individuals who have made the donation of their commemorative benches that have been placed in the Pahrump Veterans Memorial. Carl Jones would like to conduct a program/ceremony to thank and recognize the individuals who purchased memorial benches. The program date to be determined. The individuals/groups that made the purchases are: Pahrump DAV Chapter #15, Pahrump DAVA unit, Allan Schwartz memorial (Donated by Pahrump DAVA), Pahrump VFW Post #10054, Mr. Bill Daily, Cles Saunders & Buddy Tisdale (dual engraved bench), and Mr. Tony Cipollni. None 12. Announcements (second). Committee meetings will be conducted at the Bob Rudd Center until the Multipurpose Building has been repaired. The next committee meeting is 08 October 2020, 4:00 at the Bob Rudd Center. 13. ADJOURN. Meeting adjourned at 4:50 APPROVED this 2020. Carl Jones, Chairman
