3 4 5 6 7 E 9 10 ll l2 l3 14 l5 16 t'7 llt l9 20 2t ?3 21 l5 Proclamation P2024-01 TOWN OF PAHRUMP PROCLAMATION NO.2O24-OI A PROCLAMATION RECOGNZING MAY I,2024, AS YOUTH LAW-AWRENESS DAY IN THE TOWN OF PAHRUMP WHEREAS, the vibrant and diverse youth of Nevada embody the promise of our state's future, with their understanding and respect for the rule of law serving as the foundation for a society rooted in justice, civic engagement, and informed citizenship; and WHEREAS, on February 5, 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaimed that henceforth May I of each year would be Law Day in the United States, a day dedicated to the celebration of our commitment to the rule of law, which has been observed annually to emphasize the legal system's role in our democracy and our lives; and WHEREAS, Project REAL champions this call to action by educating Nevada's youth on the importance of the rule of law, through initiatives that encouage them to "Check Their Surroundings," "Think within the Law," and "Do the Math," thus equipping them with the knowledge and skills to navigate their social environments responsibly, to make informed decisions, and to assess the consequences oftheir actions within the framework of law; and WHEREAS, Project REAL and the community members they reach will spearhead REAL Ready conversations throughout Nevada, encouraging adults to engage in meaningful dialogues about the Rule ofLaw with the young people in their lives; these concerted efforts are designed to illuminate the principles ofdemocracy, underscore the significance ofcivil discourse, and inspire the next generation to advocate for legal and societal transformations, thereby empowering our youth to recognize their potential impact within a democratic framework and the broader community; and WHEREAS, the Town of Pahrump valuing the diversity of its citizens' political beliefs and the importance of inclusive and respectful dialogue, commits to the engagement of all community members, especially the youth, in upholding and promoting the principles of democracy and the rule of law; and ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ll t2 l3 t4 l5 t6 l7 l8 t9 20 21 22 23 24 25 NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the Nye County Board of County Commissioners, sitting as the Goveming Body of the Unincorporated Town of Pahrump, do hereby proclaim May l, 2024,tobe PAHRUMP YOUTH LAW-AWARENESS DAY in Pahrump, Nevada.
