PAHRUMP NUCLEAR WASTE & ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES May 21, 2021 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Nuclear Waste & Environmental Advisory Committee was held on May 21, 2021 at 11:30am via teleconference. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The Pledge was recited. 2. Roll Call Mike Smith, Dale Griffith, Deb Perna, John Pawlak, Bill Stremmel. 3. Approval of the Agenda for May 21, 2021. 5 yay/0 nay 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Nuclear Waste and Environmental Advisory Committee (PNWEAC) meeting of, April 16, 2021. 5 yay/0 nay 6. Announcements (first) None. 7. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for the future.) John went on the Nye County site for an informational package, 24 pages long. John said he would give to Bill S. to speak to planner number 1, to find out if there could be a meeting with us to talk about what is happening in the community. John suggested Bill to be the front person for this initiative. John mentioned we are in D4, exceptional draught situation. We would like to add this to our committee projects. 8. Presentation – Discussion of Earth Day/Arbor Day 2021 at Ian Deutch Memorial Park. John stated we did the best we could considering the weather and COVID conditions. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation – Regarding future informational presentations to the BOCC during three-minute public comment regarding environmental awareness within the confines of the Pahrump Valley. John mentioned this will be our last meeting until October 8th to accommodate RAM. Site will be determined. We will convene moving forward. 5 yay/0 nay 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation – Regarding Environment issues in Southern Nevada and within the Town of Pahrump to include comments to the Board of Nye County Commissioners. Bill wanted to mention that due to the Infrastructure Bill, (Raise Grant), he suggests we all contact our Senators to remove the population requirements to benefit our Valley, particularly as it pertains to dust control. John mentioned that some of these need to be handled via grants. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation – Regarding Nuclear issues in Southern Nevada and within the Town of Pahrump to include comments to the Board of Nye County Commissioners. John said he looked to see if there was any activity with Yucca Mountain. John stated that there is something in the works in Carlsbad for storage. 12. General Public Comment (Second) None. 13.
