Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Minutes June 15, 2023 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location, Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery Copies of the May 2023 meeting minutes, June 2023 agenda, Activities Coordinator duties 2013, and revised Activities Coordinator duties 2023 were provided. Jerry Paradise Committee Member Application was provided. Bruce Cox, Beverly Baker, and Greg Cartelli Member applications were available. Note, the May 18th, 2023, meeting was cancelled. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Chairman Bruce Cox, Vice-chair Beverly Baker, Secretary Alice Lübbers, Dina Williamson-Erdag, Stephen Hall, Eddie Williams, Jerry Dumont, Greg Cardarelli, and Commissioner Frank Carbone. Jerry Paradise, Committee Member applicant was present. Jimmy Martinez was absent. 3. Approval of the Agenda for June 15, 2023. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Greg Cardarelli seconded. Motion was approved. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). No Public present. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of April 20, 2023. Number 7, subparagraph, point C, should read “Run for the Wall” not “Run Wall”. Stephen Hall made the motion to accept the minutes as written with the corrections. Greg Cardarelli seconded. Motion was approved. 6. Announcements (First) None 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). a. Member Roster/contact list and Subcommittee sign-up sheet will be available at the July meeting. b. Annual Thank You BBQ, Inventory list, and Carl Jones “Letter of Resignation” will be included on July’s Agenda. 9. The County Commissioners approved the Committee Membership applications for Bruce Cox, Beverly Baker, and Greg Cardarelli at the June 13, 2023, meeting. 10 . For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. None 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of committee membership application for Jerry Paradise. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept Jerry Paradise’s application. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 12. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding increasing the parking availability at the Memorial and electronic/computer plug-ins for the new building. Jimmy Martinez was not present. He will be rescheduled for the July meeting. 13. For possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding update of the Activities Coordinator duties. Copies of the revised 2023 duties were discussed. Dina Williamson-Erdag requested the duties should include “assist family with service branch information.” Dina Williamson-Erdag made the motion to accept the Duties of the Activities Coordinator with the addition of assist family with branch of service information. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion was passed. 14. Discussion regarding Activities Coordinator (AC) positions. Dina Williamson- Erdag discussed the Activities Coordinator position was also held by the current Vice Chair. She suggested the AC position should not be held by an executive member. A non-executive member should hold the position so other members could have a voice. It was brought to the committees’ attention that the previous Vice Chair had held both positions for approximately 10 years. Committee ---PAGE BREAK--- Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Minutes June 15, 2023 members had been asked to participate in functions/events and were asked for assistance when required/needed. No problems had been verbalized by committee members prior to this meeting. Bruce Cox, committee chair stated that Beverly Baker and Alice Lübbers would remain as the Activities Coordinators. 15. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second). None 16. COMMITTEE COMENTS (Second). Dina Williamson-Erdag discussed the possibility of officially naming the Memorial building as “The Veterans Building” or a similar name. It was explained that the Buildings and Grounds supervisor, Jimmy Martinez, does have oversight for naming the building. Our committee does not have that ability. However, we can make the suggestion. 17. ANNOUNCEMENTS (Second). The next meeting of the PVMAC; July 20, 2023, at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 18.
