Veterans Advisory Committee Minutes July 20, 2023 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location, Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery Copies of the June 2023 meeting minutes, July 2023 agenda, and Committee Contact numbers provided. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Chairman Bruce Cox, Vice-chair Beverly Baker, Secretary Alice Lübbers, Dina Williamson-Erdag, Stephen Hall, Eddie Williams, Jerry Dumont, Greg Cardarelli, Jerry Paradise, Commissioner Frank Carbone, and Jimmy Martinez were present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for July 20,2023. Greg Cardarelli made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). No Public present. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of June 15, 2023. Greg Cardarelli made the motion to accept the minutes as written Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 6. Announcements (First) • Purple Heart Ceremony, August 7th, 2023, at 6:00, Veterans Memorial • Jerry Dumont and Jerry Paradise are the two alternate members. • Memorial Donated Items Subcommittee members will discuss inventory updates at the August meeting. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. Presentation for wreath holders for the December 2023 “Wreaths Across America” event. Marty Crim, representative for Trikes and Bikes and Free Riders members Presentation. No presentation provided. Marty Crim was absent. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. Jannis Sanders COA was mailed to her home address. 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of committee membership application for Jerry Paradise. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept Jerry Paradise’s application. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding Annual Thank You BBQ for the Buildings and Grounds crew. Beverly Baker stated the cost for each committee member will be $25.00 to cover the food purchase. The date for the BBQ, October 26th, 11:00 -!:00 at the Veterans Building. Stephen Hall made the motion to accept the cost and date for the BBQ. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding increasing the parking availability at the Memorial, officially naming of the Memorial building, noise suppression devices, and electronic/computer plug-ins for the new building. Jimmy Martinez, Buildings and Grounds supervisor discussed wall mounted panel noise suppression devices, options, and costs. Customized panels with pictures and logos are expensive versus “pre-packaged”, are more affordable. He also discussed audio/visual equipment installation and window coverings. No timeline for completion of noise suppression panels, audio /visual, or window shades were given. Jimmy discussed the parking lot expansion project at the memorial. The parking lot area, black-top, curbing, drainage was explained. He further stated the trees beside the Memorial building would be saved. Funding for the project would need to be approved by the commissioners. No timeline for completion was provided. The official naming of the building was discussed. For Possible Action – Discussion, deliberation regarding Carl Jones resignation. Greg Cardarelli made the motion to accept Carl Jones resignation. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 15. For Possible Action – Discussion, deliberation regarding subcommittee volunteer sign-up sheet. Committee members signed up for assignments. Two subcommittees were deleted, Furniture replacement and PVMAC shirts. Stephen Hall made the motion to accept the revised subcommittee assignment sheet. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion was approved. 16. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second). None 17. COMMITTEE COMENTS (Second). None 18. ANNOUNCEMENTS (Second).
