PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES January 20, 2022 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on January 20, 2022, at 4:00pm at the Bob Ruud Community Center. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:01pm by Alice Lubbers. 2. Roll Call Those present were Alice Lubbers, Dina Williamson Erdag, Beverly Baker, Greg Cardarelli, Jannis Saunders, Eddie Williams, Liaison Frank Carbone, and Jimmy Martinez, Carl Jones was excused absent. Stephen Hall and Bruce Cox were absent. 3. Approval of the agenda for January 20, 2022. The agenda was accepted as presented. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee, meeting of October 21, 2021. Agenda item #9 should state Alice Lubbers not Stephen Hall. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the corrected minutes of the October 21, 2021, meeting. Greg Cardarelli seconded the motion. Motion passed 6-0. 6. Announcements (first) Dina Williamson Erdag announced that Pahrump Rotary was conducting a donation food drive called “Love Our Community”. The Rotary club will match all donations up to $4,000, and the funds will be distributed to the local food banks by Nye Communities Coalition. Alice Lubbers announced that there will be a “Veterans Extravaganza” on 3/4/22 at the Rudd Center, 10:00am-2:00pm. There will numerous Veteran’s vendors plus free attorney services. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to accept the applications to the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee due to two expiring terms. The applicants are; Stephen Hall and Dina Williamson-Erdag. Alice Lubbers made the motion to approve the applications of Dina Williamson Erdag and Stephen Hall to the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. Beverly Baker seconded the motion. Motion passed 6-0. 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation to elect the Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary positions of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee for 2022. Beverly Baker nominated Carl Jones for Chair, Alice Lubbers for Vice-Chair, and Dina Williamson Erdag for Secretary of the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee for 2022. Eddie Williams seconded the motion. Motion passed 6-0. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the assignment/re- assignment of Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee members onto sub- committees. Since not all members were present this item will appear on the February agenda. 11. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) Jimmy Martinez from Building and Grounds updated this committee on the progress of the repairs on the Multi-Purpose Building. He reported that they are waiting for plans from the structural engineer to proceed to the next step. The soil tests have been completed. The anticipated completion date is Fall, 2022. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of certificates of appreciation and plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. The certificate for Joe’s Sanitation was completed and given to Alice Lubbers to follow through with signature, pin, coaster; and to arrange for the presentation. No new suggestions were received for new certificates. 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding preparing a flyer and/or other marketing material to advertise the Columbarium and In-Ground burials at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial. Since the committee members working on this project were not present, this item will appear on the February agenda. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES January 20, 2022 14. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the status of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Volunteer Hours Forms. The form that was approved at a prior meeting cannot be reproduced due to errors in the electronic forms formatting. Frank Carbone will instruct Courtney to email Alice Lubbers the town logo. Alice Lubbers will make the needed corrections and send the corrected form to the Secretary. The Secretary will make copies and distribute to all committee members. 15. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the placement and display of fake flowers and plants, statuary, wind ornaments, and various other items on the gravesites and Columbarium area in the Veterans section of the Chief Tecopa Cemetery. After discussion and review of pictures taken of the portion of the site in questions, it was recommended that the SOP’s be amended to include guidelines for types of decorations that can be placed along with the timeframe that decorations placement can remain, along with a description of how decorations will be disposed of and by whom. Alice Lubbers made the motion that a committee will be formed to prepare a suggested SOP amendment, and that their suggested SOP amendment will be presented at the February meeting. Eddie Williams seconded the motion. Motion passed 6-0. 16. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (second). None. 17. COMMITTEE COMMENTS (second) Eddie Williams asked for an update on the committee shirts he ordered. 18. ANNOUNCEMENTS (second). None. 19. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:40pm.
