PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Veterans Memorial Building 751 East Street, Pahrump, NV 89048 August 21, 2025 4:00 p.m. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the July 17, 2025, meeting minutes and August 21, 2025, agenda were available. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Bruce Cox, Chair, Beverly Baker, Vice chair, Alice Lübbers, Secretary, Jerry Paradise, Marge Paradise, and Stephen Hall. Commissioner John Koenig, Frank Carbone and Sterling Robert Ripley were present. Eddie Williams was excused. Public present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for August 21, 2025. Alice Lübbers made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion was approved. No public input. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). Melinda Mills, Pahrump American Legion Commander, stated her organization was interested in purchasing a Memorial bench and provided her contact information. Bruce Cox or Alice Lübbers will provide her ordering and cost information. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of April 17, 2025. Note: May and June Veterans Advisory Committee meetings were cancelled. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. Announcements (First). • Labor Day; Monday September 1, 2025. • Fall Festival Dates; September 25 – 28, 2025. • Annual Building and Grounds Thank you BBQ is Thursday, October 23, 2025. • Veterans Day graveside flag placement, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Activities Coordinators. None. No public input. 8. Committee Comments (This item is limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). Beverly Baker stated the Annual Thank you BBQ, October 23, 2025, would start at 11:00 a.m. Committee member donation is $20.00 per person and needs to be paid by the September 18, 2025, committee meeting. No Public input. 9. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and plaques to be presented by the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. None. No public input. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding placing a bulletin board and a file holder for veteran brochures in the lobby area of the Veterans Memorial building. Jimmy Martinez was not present. The agenda item will be moved to the September 18, 2025, committee meeting per Bruce Cox request. No public input. 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding planting two to three trees between the pergolas and the Veterans building. Jimmy Martinez was not present. The agenda item will be moved to the September 18, 2025, meeting per Bruce Cox request. No public input. 12. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding the December 2025 Veterans Advisory Committee meeting going dark for the holidays. Marge Paradise made the motion to cancel the December meeting. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion passed. No public input. 13. General Public Comment (second). None. Frank Carbone and Sterling Ripley names were provided to the Town and will be on the next County Commissioners meeting agenda. 2026 will be the 20th anniversary of the Veterans Advisory committee. Everyone to consider possible celebration events. Bring your ideas to the September 18, 2025, committee meeting. No public input. 15. Announcements(second). • The next meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee will be September 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. Beverly Baker has requested an RSVP list of food items for members to bring to the Christmas party. No public input. 16. Adjournment. 4:30 p.m.
