Pahrump Public Land Advisory Committee October 18, 2023 DRAFT MINUTES Pursuant to NRS, a meeƟng of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee was held 5pm on October 18, 2023, at the Commissioners’ Chambers at 2100 E. Walt Williams Drive, Pahrump, NV 89048 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. 1700 2. Roll CALL: Mike Zaman, Frank Slaghuis, Robert Adams, Jim Hannah, Timothy Davidheiser, Commissioner Strickland, BLM PFO Manager Nick Pay 3. Approval of the agenda for October 18, 2023 No Objections or call for changes. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First): None. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Public Lands Advisory Committee meetings of August 8, 2023. Frank Slaghuis moved to approve. 2nd by Jim Hannah. Yes by all. 6. Announcements (First). The following four member terms will be expiring January of 2024: Frank Slaghuis, Michael Zaman, Rick Tretter, Robert Adams. ARP mtg 1024. Public BOCC Workshop to hear grant 7. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). Robert Adams reported Battleborn Trail progress.. This item reopened to set date and time (11/06 at 1106) to view Trailhead proposal. Meet at the Old West Mkt, SR160 & Country Place 8. For Possible Action - Discussion, deliberation, and possible decision to scope establishment of a trailhead and wildlife viewing area on County property off SR-160 in Johnny. For Possible Action - Discussion, deliberation, and possible decision to install area and trail information in 2 kiosks installed at the new cattleguards where Poleline Road crosses US-95. Tim Davidheiser volunteered to design Battleborn Trail logo and artwork. Frank Slaghuis moved to approve. 2nd by Jim Hannah. Yes by all. 11. Discussion: Shooting range report. NP discussion with NC BLM geo team surveying to do mgmt. plan. MOU with NC. Commissioner Strickland reported Nye County will buy the Murphey Pit for a public shooting range till it becomes a new landfill in 25 years. BLM Pahrump Field Office Manager discussed BLM is studying Bell Vista informal shooting range site to enter MOU with Nye County for a public shooting site. 12. Presentation of renewable energy projects within BLM’s Pahrump Field Office by PFO Manager Nick Pay. Presentation made by BLM Pahrump Field Office Manager Nick Pay followed by discussion. 13. For Possible Action - Discussion, deliberation, and possible decision to set time and place for next meeting. Frank Shaghuis moved we meet at 5pm on November 14th. 2nd by Mike Zaman. Yes by all. 14.
