Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Minutes April 20, 2023 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Bruce Cox, chairman. Location, Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery Copies of the March 2023 meeting minutes, April 2023 agenda, Activities Coordinator duties 2013, and revised Activities Coordinator duties 2023 were provided. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Chairman Bruce Cox, Vice-chair Beverly Baker, Secretary Alice Lübbers, Dina Williamson-Erdag, Stephen Hall, Eddie Williams, Jerry Dumont, Greg Cardarelli, and Commissioner Frank Carbone. Excused Absence, Carl Jones 3. Approval of the Agenda for April 20, 2023. Stephen Hall made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Greg Cardarelli seconded. Motion was approved. 4. Certificate of Appreciation presentation for Jannis Saunders. Jannis was not present. Beverly Baker stated Jannis would like her certificate mailed to her. 5. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). No public present. 6. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of March 16, 2023. Dina Williamson-Erdag stated the Activities Coordinator duties had not been updated since 2013. She had requested the duties be discussed and added to the May meeting agenda. She further stated the Activities Coordinators were committee board members. She requested other members be considered allowing more people to serve. ---PAGE BREAK--- Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Minutes April 20, 2023 Beverly Baker stated there were two Adjournments listed, #15 and #16. The extra Adjournment line will be removed. Greg Cardarelli made the motion to accept the minutes as written with the corrections. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. 7. Announcements (First) o The New Veterans Memorial Building at Chief Tecopa Cemetery was officially opened April 10th, 2023, at 12:00. o Need volunteers for Memorial Day graveside flag event. Flag placement: May 27 Saturday, 9:00, Chief Tecopa cemetery Flag pickup: May 31 Wednesday, 9:00, Chief Tecopa cemetery o Stephen Hall stated there will be a “Run Wall” event. The mission of the event is to promote healing among all veterans and their families. The event will begin the 16th of May and conclude on May 27th at the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington DC. He further stated he would be participating in the event and would not be at the May Veterans Advisory meeting. 8. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. None 9. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). Dina Williamson-Erdag asked why her agenda requests for the Activities Coordinator duties was not included on the April meeting agenda? It was at this point in the meeting that the provided copies of the April Agenda was incorrect. For unknown reasons, the correct April agenda was not given to members. The Town Administrator would be contacted for clarification. Dina Williamson-Erdag stated the SOP subcommittee will convene for SOP updates/revisions. Bruce Cox requested the Annual Thank you BBQ for the Buildings and Grounds crew be added on a future agenda. He also requested cabinets, posters, and other display items be added on a future agenda. Beverly Baker stated the Memorial Donated Items subcommittee will be conducting an inventory of all “Shed” items. ---PAGE BREAK--- Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee Minutes April 20, 2023 10 and 11. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. Ron Frasier plaque. Agenda item #11, For Possible Action –Discussion and deliberation regarding progress of the Memorial Building renovations. Both agenda items had been discussed at the March meeting and were incorrectly included on the April meeting. Bruce Cox requested to remove agenda items # 10 and #11. Beverly Baker made the motion to remove both agenda items, Greg Cardarelli seconded. Motion was approved. 12. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Second). None 13. COMMITTEE COMENTS (Second). 14. ANNOUNCEMENTS (Second). The next meeting of the PVMAC; May 18, 2023, at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 15. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bruce Cox at 4:18
