January 16, 2020 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held at 4:00 PM at Chief Tecopa Cemetery, Multipurpose Building at 751 S East St Pahrump, NV 89048. 1 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order by Alice Lubbers at 4:10pm 2. Roll Call. Present were Alice Lubbers, Beverly Baker, Dina Williamson-Erdag, Greg Cardarelli, and Commissioner Koenig. Excused absent were Ken Hoskins, Janice Saunders, Cles Saunders, and Carl Jones. Unexcused absent was Stephen Hill 3. Approval of the Agenda for January 16, 2020. It was moved by Beverly Baker and seconded by Greg Cardarelli that the agenda be accepted as presented. Motion passed 4-0. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of November 21, 2019. I was moved by Greg Cardarelli and seconded by Beverly Baker that the minutes be accepted as presented. Motion passed 4-0. 6. Announcements (first) a. All future PVMAC meetings will be held in the Multipurpose Building at the Chief Tecopa Cemetery. b. The 2nd Annual “Thank You BBQ’ for the Town Building and Grounds crew is scheduled for April 16, 2020, Noon-1:00pm. The PVMAC meeting for April will follow at approximately 2:30pm c. The 4th Annual Veterans Extravaganza is scheduled for March 6, 2020 at the Rudd Center, 10:00am-2:00pm. d. There will be an Open Meeting Law Training on February 28, 2020 at the County Commissioners Chambers, starting at 1:30pm. This training is mandatory for all new Committee members, and every other year for current members. e. The Pahrump Rotary Club is doing an “End Polio Now” campaign, with each $5.00 donation to the campaign the donator will receive a $1.00 Polio Innovation coin from the US Mint. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out- of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. None 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) None 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on the review and revisions of the current SOP’s. There was discussion about suggested changes. An edited copy of the suggested changes will be prepared, printed, and presented at the February PVMAC meeting. 10. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on flag holders to be placed at all graves in the Veterans area of the cemetery for certain holidays or celebrations. This will include all in-ground and columbarium grave sites. It was suggested that either a PVC or metal pipe be inserted into the ground as each grave site, and one at the columbarium and also one at each of the Memorial Walk locations. Jimmy Martinez from the Town Building and Grounds department said this should not be a problem; the project would be completed before May 1, 2020. A vote was not taken at this meeting, it was suggested we wait until the February meeting to approve this project. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on grave marker reorientation for two veteran graves. It was suggested that this item be moved to the February agenda because there was not enough information available on this matter to have a discussion at this time. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on Sub-Committee projects. It was suggested that a list of all the Sub-Committees, and who sits on these sub-committees, be prepared. The list should include notes from prior PVMAC minutes of any discussion or progress made on the Sub-Committee projects. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation on current history of our committee. This agenda item to be tabled until the February PVMAC meeting because not enough information was available for discussion at this time. 14. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (second) None 15. ANNOUNCEMENTS (second) f. Greg Cardarelli is looking for a final count of Riders who visited the PVM during the recent cross-country rally. Alice Lubbers said she would check with the Pahrump Visitors Bureau to see if they have any updated information. g. The next meeting of the PVMAC will be on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 4:00pm to be held at the Chief Tecopa Cemetery, Multipurpose Building located at 751 S East Street, Pahrump, NV, 89048. 16. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 4:26pm.
