PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ITEM # SUBJECT March 20, 2025 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the February 2025 meeting minutes and the March 2025 agenda were available. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Bruce Cox, Chair; Beverly Baker, Vice chair; Jerry Paradise, Marge Paradise, and Stephen Hall. Absent: Eddie Williams and Alice Lübbers both were excused. Greg Cardarelli. and Jerry Dumont have resigned due to family priorities. County Commissioner John Koenig and Building and Grounds supervisor Jimmy Martinez were present. No Public present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for March 20, 2025. Stephen Hall made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. No public input. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). None. No Public input. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of February 20, 2025. Beverly Baker made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 6. Announcements (First). • The Baker to Las Vegas Fun run is Saturday April 5, 2025, through Sunday April 6, 2025. Traffic will be delayed from Baker to Pahrump and Pahrump to Vegas via Nevada Highway 160. • The Extravaganza Event was a success. Great job by Team Extravaganza. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Activities Coordinators. None. 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and plaques to be presented by the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. Members discussed purchasing a plaque for Commissioner Frank Carbone. Stephen Hall stated he has an etching machine and will make a plaque. He will bring a sample to the April meeting for committee members to evaluate. Jerry Paradise made the motion to continue the plaque discussion at the April meeting. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion passed. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding placing a bulletin board and a file holder for Veteran brochures in the lobby area of the Veterans Memorial building. • Sample of bulletin/white board combo (approx. 3’ x and hanging file holder (approx. 20” x Members were provided the sample pictures of a bulletin board and hanging file holder. Committee members liked the idea of the bulletin board and hanging file holder with placement in the lobby. Jimmy Martinez will check products and pricing and will provide information at the April meeting. The bulletin board and file holder will be placed inside on the east side of the double doors in front of the men’s bathroom. The agenda item will be moved to the April meeting. Marge Paradise made the motion to accept the file and bulletin board location and move the agenda item to the April meeting. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion passed. 11. General Public Comment (second). None. 12. Committee Comment (second). None. 13. Announcements (second). • The next meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee will be held April 17, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. • Subcommittee assignments. 14. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned by Bruce Cox, Chairman at 4:20 p.m.
