1 TOWN OF PAIWUMP PROCLAMATION NO. P2017-01 2 A PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING THE TOWN OF PAHRUMP, NEVADA AS A PURPLE HEART TOWN 3 4 WFIEREAS, the people of the Town of Pahrump have great admiration and the utmost gratitude for all 5 the men and women who have selflessly served their country and this county in the Armed Forces; and 6 WHEREAS, the Purple Heart is the oldest military decoration in present use and was initially created as 7 the badge of Military Merit by General George Washington in 1782; and $ WHEREAS, veterans have paid the high price of freedom by leaving their families and communities and 9 placing themselves in harm’s way for the good of all; and 10 WHEREAS, the contributions and sacrifices of the men and women from the Town of Pahmmp who ii served in the Armed Forces have been vital in maintaining the freedoms and way of life enjoyed by our citizens; 12 and 13 WHEREAS, many citizens of the Town of Pabrump have earned the Purple Heart Medal as a result of 14 being wounded while engaged in combat with an enemy force, construed as a singularly meritorious act of is essential service; and 16 WHEREAS, the Town of Pahrump appreciates the sacrifices our Purple Heart recipients made in 17 defending our freedoms and believe it is important that we acknowledge them for their courage and show them 18 honor and support they have earned. 19 NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the Nye County Board of County Commissioners sitting as the Governing 20 Body of the Unincorporated Town of Pahrump supports the town becoming a PURPLE HEART TOWN in 21 recognition of our community’s Purple Heart Medal recipients. 22 APPROVED this 17th day of October, 2017 23 NYE COUi\TY ATTEST: BOARD F CO COMMISSIONERS: 24 ‘1 / 4’ Ii/ ,)tU ‘5 - Dan Sohmhofen, Chairman Sandra L.
