PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES April 21, 2022 Pursuant to NRS, a meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee was held on April 21, 2022, at 4:00pm at the Town Annex Building. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 4:00pm by Chair Carl Jones. 2. Roll Call Those in attendance were Chair Carl Jones, Vice Chair Alice Lubbers, Secretary Dina Williamson Erdag, Beverly Baker, Greg Cardarelli, Bruce Cox, Eddie Williams, Liaison Frank Carbone, and Jimmy Martinez. Those excused absent were Stephen Hall and Jannis Saunders. 3. Approval of the agenda for April 21, 2022. Beverly Baker made the motion to approve the April 21, 2022 agenda, the motion was seconded by Greg Cardarelli. Motion passed 7-0. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (first). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of minutes of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee, meeting of March 17, 2022. Greg Cardarelli made the motion to approve the March 17, 2022 minutes as presented, Bruce Cox seconded the motion. Motion passed 7-0. 6. Announcements (first) None. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman or Activities Coordinators. Matt Luis was presented with a certificate and plaque of appreciation for his years of service to the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee while he was the Supervisor of the Pahrump Building and Grounds Department. (see pictures) 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of certificates of appreciation and plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee. None. 10. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas) All sub-committees will have reports due at the May Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting. 11. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding preparing a flyer and/or other marketing material to advertise the Columbarium and In-Ground burials at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial. Dina Williamson Erdag distributed copies of the trifolds that are already in use at the Town Office and by the Pahrump Tourism Office. Dina made the motion that we continue review these trifolds, have the Advertising/Sales Sub-committee provide the Town and Tourism with suggested edits/corrections, and ask for new material to be printed. The motion was seconded by Beverly Baker. Motion passed 7-0. 12. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding the approved amendments to the Veterans Memorial Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) regarding guidelines for types of decorations that can be placed on the gravesite and columbarium areas in the Veterans section of the Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Discussion of the next steps. Dina Williamson Erdag made the motion that our Liaison Frank Carbone request our approved amendments to the Veterans Memorial Standard Operating Procedures regarding guidelines for types of decoration that can be place on the gravesite and columbarium areas in the Veterans section of the Chief Tecopa Cemetery be placed on the Agenda of the Board of County Commissioners acting as the Town of Pahrump Board, for review and approval. Alice Lubbers seconded the motion. Motion passed 7-0. ---PAGE BREAK--- PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE DRAFT MINUTES April 21, 2022 13. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of Town of Pahrump mandatory attendance by all advisory committee members at an Open Meeting Law training session, and to determine what can be done when committee members do not attend the training. Liaison Frank Carbone stated that the three remaining Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee members requiring Open Meeting Law training need to make themselves available for training within the next six months. Courtney in the Town office will provide more information for online training. 14. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (second). None. 15. COMMITTEE COMMENTS (second) Carl Jones requested that an agenda item for an update to the Memorial Building renovation progress be added to the agenda for all meetings through the end of 2022, Alice Lubbers requested that an agenda item for an update on the painting of the pergolas be added to the agenda for all meetings through the end of 2022.
