I TOWN OF PAHRUMP PROCLAMATION NO. P2021-01 2 A PROCLAMATION DECLARING MARCH 17, 2021 AS HONORING OUR MISSION TO SERVE VETERANS DAY 3 4 WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary is conducting its 106th 5 year of volunteer service to America; and 6 WHEREAS, year after year the organization continues to honor those who 7 have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom by maintaining memorials to their service and 8 sharing their history with our nation’s youth so that what our nation’s veterans have done for America 9 will not be forgotten; and 10 WHEREAS, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary supports the troops currently deployed 11 overseas; and 12 WHEREAS, the 470,000 members represent the families of those who have served or are 13 currently on foreign soil protecting our freedom; and 14 WHEREAS, members volunteer nearly one million hours in Veterans Affairs Medical Centers 15 and other hospitals throughout this country; and 16 WHEREAS, the organization provides awards and scholarships to students based on their 17 expressions of patriotism through art, speech, and volunteerism; and 18 WHEREAS, the 2020-2021 National President, Sandra Onstwedder is rallying VFW Auxiliary 19 members behind her theme, “Honoring Our Mission To Serve Veterans”. 20 NOW, THEREFORE, WE, the Nye County Board of County Commissioners, do hereby 21 proclaim March 17, 2021 will be a time to celebrate National President Sandra Onstwedder’s visit to 22 Pahrump, Nevada and do hereby declare March 17, 2021 as “Honoring Our Mission To Serve Veterans” 23 Day in honor of her and all members of the VFW Auxiliary for their outstanding volunteer service to 24 veterans and their families in Pahrump, Nevada, and our great country. 25 APPROVED this 16t1 day of March, 2021.
