PAHRUMP VETERANS MEMORIAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Veterans Memorial Building 751 East Street, Pahrump, NV 89048 April 17, 2025 4:00 p.m. 1. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the March 2025 meeting minutes and the April 2025 agenda were available. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Bruce Cox, Chair, Beverly Baker, Vice chair, Jerry Paradise, Marge Paradise, and County Commissioner John Koenig. Absent: Stephen Hall, Eddie Williams and Alice Lübbers. All were excused. Building and Grounds supervisor Jimmy Martinez was absent. Public attendees: Frank Carbone and Sterling Ripley were present. 3. Approval of the Agenda for April 17, 2025. Marge Paradise made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion was approved. No public input. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person.) Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). None. No Public input. 5. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of March 20, 2025. Jerry Paradise made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Beverly Baker seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 6. Announcements (First). • Memorial Graveside flag placement dates: Graveside flag will be placed Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The flag will be picked up Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers needed. • Memorial Day: Monday, May 26, 2025. • Jerry and Marge Paradise are now active committee members. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Activities Coordinators. Jerry Paradise stated the Silver Tappers would like to use the Veterans building to replace the Christmas wreaths ribbons. Jerry will check back with their Person of Contact for possible dates and times. Jerry will keep the committee updated with information. Beverly Baker requested all graveside American flags used for Memorial and Veterans days be loaded in her car. She will take them home and iron the flags. Thank you to Beverly for volunteering. 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). None. 9. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and plaques to be presented by the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. Stephen Hall will bring samples of an etching. Stephen Hall was not present. Chairman Bruce Cox requested this agenda item be moved to May’s agenda. 10. For Possible Action - Discussion and deliberation regarding placing a bulletin board and a file holder for Veteran brochures in the lobby area of the Veterans Memorial building. Jimmy Martinez will provide product information and pricing. Jimmy was not present. Chairman Bruce Cox requested this agenda item be moved to May’s agenda. 11. General Public Comment (second). None. 12. Committee Comment (second). None. 13. Announcements (second). • The next meeting of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee will be held May 15, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. • Subcommittee assignments. 14. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Bruce Cox at 4:20 p.m.
