Public Comment during the Committee Meeting on May 16, 2024 will be for all matters off the agenda and be limited to three minutes per person. Additionally, public comment of three minutes per person may be heard during individual action items. The Committee reserves the right to reduce the time or limit the total time allowed for public comment. The Committee may prohibit comment if the content of the comments is a topic that is not relevant to, or within the authority of, the Committee, or if the content of the comments is willfully disruptive of the meeting by being irrelevant, repetitious, slanderous, offensive, inflammatory, irrational, or amounting to personal attacks or interfering with the rights of other speakers. Pledge of Allegiance and Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 4:00 pm by Bruce Cox, Chairman. Location: Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa Cemetery. Copies of the March 2024 meeting minutes and the May 2024 agenda were provided. Note: The April meeting was cancelled. 2. Roll Call. In attendance: Bruce Cox, Chair, Beverly Baker, Vice-chair, Alice Lübbers, Secretary, Jerry Paradise, Jerry Dumont, Greg Cardarelli, and Stephen Hall. Absent: Dina Williamson-Erdag, and Eddie Williams. Both were excused. Commissioner Frank Carbone was present. Jimmy Martiez was absent. No Public attendees. 3. Approval of the Agenda for May 16th, 2024. Jerry Dumont made the motion to accept the agenda as written. Stephen Hall seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 4. GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT (Three-minute time limit per person). Action will not be taken on the matters considered during this period until specifically included on an agenda as an action item (First). None. 5. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation of the Pahrump Veterans Memorial Advisory Committee meeting minutes of March 21, 2024. (Note Meeting for April 18th was cancelled). Greg Cardarelli made the motion to accept the minutes as written. Jerry Paradise seconded. Motion was approved. No public comment. 6. Announcements (First). • Memorial Day Flag placement 24 May 2024 at 9:00 a.m. Need volunteers. • Memorial Day event is May 27th 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Committee Members need to be at the Memorial 8:45 a.m. Memorial Day event is Monday, May 27th 10:00 - 12:00 Memorial Day Graveside Flag placement, 24 May 2024 at the cemetery. We will meet at 9:00. Need volunteers. Flag pick-up date, May 28th Tuesday 9:00 Need volunteers. 7. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding approval of past actions on out-of-cycle events at the Pahrump Veterans Memorial by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, or Activities Coordinators. • Memorial Day 2024 event update. Beverly Baker and Alice Lübbers to present. Beverly Baker and Alice Lübbers discussed the Memorial Day Program and provided a sample handout for committee members to review. Bruce Cox will begin the event with the Home Depot Bronze Plaque presentation. Greg Cardarelli will oversee the dog tag ceremony. Stephen Hall will provide the opening prayer and play taps. Sheriff McGill will be our keynote speaker. The Sheriff department will conduct the honor guard, singing the National Anthem, and wreath placement ceremony. The committee will give Sheriff McGill a Veterans Memorial coaster and pen as a thank you gift for speaking at the event. Advertising for the event: The Pahrump Valley Times has been contacted to include the event in the “Upcoming Events” section. JoAnn Newcomb, DAVA Commander will place the event information on Facebook. Bruce Cox will email all Pahrump Veterans Service organizations commanders with a personal invitation to the event. No Public input. 8. Committee Comments (This item limited to announcements or topics/issues proposed for future workshops/agendas). • Jimmy Martinez has ordered the cabinet, will provide an update. Jimmy Martinez was not available for updates. 9. For Possible Action – Discussion and deliberation regarding future Certificates of Appreciation and Plaques to be presented from the Pahrump Veterans Advisory Committee. • Home Depot Bronze Plaque will be presented at the Memorial Day event. • Provide Sheriff McGill a Veterans Advisory Committee coaster and pen. 10. General Public Comment (second). None. 11. Committee Comment (second). The AED and a fire extinguisher have been mounted on the wall near the lobby front door. The Flag Mailbox is full. Jimmy Martinez will be contacted. Jerry Dumont will contact the Marine Corps League. 12. Announcements (second). The next meeting of the PVMAC will be June 20, 2024 at 4:00 p.m., Veterans Building, Chief Tecopa cemetery. 13. Adjournment. The meeting was adjourned by Bruce Cox, Chairman at 4:30 p.m.
