Policy Title: Device and Software Maintenance Upgrade Schedule Policy ID: IT-9 Origination Date: December 15, 2014 Update Date: December 15, 2014 IT7-1 Policy It is the policy of Ogden City IT to sustain a maintenance and upgrade schedule for all City owned devices and software. IT7-2 Policy Purpose To clearly outline maintenance and upgrade schedules for all City owned devices and software. IT7-3 Evidence of Compliance All City owned devices are regularly updated with latest software versions. All City owned software is regularly updated to the latest published and stable version. IT7-4 Policy Procedures 1. Maintenance Focus a. Odd months; (January, March, May, July, September, November) i. All desktops and laptops will be updated with any new software patches. ii. Any application updates that are requested by users or CACs. b. Even months; (February, April, June, August, October, December) i. All servers will be updated with any new software patches ii. Network switches, routers or wireless devices will be updated once a year with any new software patches iii. SANs will be updated with any new software patches when needed. iv. Firewall Switches will be updated once a year with any new software patches v. VMware will be updated every 6 months with any new software patches 2. Maintenance Nights a. An “All Ogden City” email will be sent out a week before, and the day of, a scheduled maintenance night. The email will follow our “Information Technology Alert” email template. b. Maintenance nights will be on Fridays unless there is no planned outage for the end user. c. All IT staff shall assist with each month’s maintenance as requested. IT staff perfoming maintenance shall have received clear details and directions from supervisors/CACs. d. All actions are recorded in TrackIT. ---PAGE BREAK--- IT7-5 Enforcement: Any employee found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
