Policy Title: Personal Appearance Policy ID: IT-5 Origination Date: June 10, 2014 Update Date: June 26, 2014 IT5-1 Policy It is the policy of Ogden City IT that IT staff’s dress and gooming is clean, neat, and appropriate for their position requirements. This policy is established in addition to section 9-5 of the Ogden City Employee Policies and Procedures Manual. IT5-2 Policy Purpose To describe dress and appearance guidelines that contribute positvely to I.T. staff morale, unity, and to the business and professional image I.T. presents to its customers. IT5-3 Evidence of Compliance Appropriately dressed and groomed I.T. staff receiving periodic accolades from management and no complaints. IT5-4 Policy Procedures 1. Appropriate a. Levis, Dockers, Slacks, Pants Suit, Dress b. Collared shirt, Nice T-shirt, Blouse, Pull-over top c. Athletic shoes, Dress shoes of any type, Loafers, Appropriate sandals d. Sweaters, Jackets e. Hair groomed f. Socks, Nylons g. Light perfume or cologne h. Appropriate underclothing 2. Inappropriate a. Holes in pants or shirts, ragged T-shirts b. Beat up shoes or sandals c. Shorts d. Sleeveless shirts, blouses, tops (unless covered by another sleeved top) e. Excessive perfume/cologne f. Lack of appropriate underclothing g. Clothing with rips, tears, holes, stains h. Flip-Flops or other beach wear 3. CAC’s and Supervisors ---PAGE BREAK--- a. Business casual (For men: slacks/khakis, collared shirt. For women: slacks/knee-length skirt and a blouse or shirt. Technical Support Area: Levis acceptable) b. Tie, Suit, Dress as desired c. Fridays – appropriate casual if desired 4. Grooming shall be neat, clean, and appropriate for interacting with the public. Fad is not Fashion. 5. Supervisors determine appropriateness and inappropriateness of dress and appearance of their staff. 6. Staff dressed inappropriately may be sent home and directed to return to work in proper attire. Under such circumstances, employees will not be compensated for the time away from work, and shall not be eligible to use or apply other paid time off. 7. Staff should consult their supervisor or I.T. Manager regarding questions as to what constitutes appropriate attire. IT5-5 Enforcement: Any employee found to have violated this policy may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
