Harrison Student Housing Project Timeline 2016 2017 April 6 August 3 May 18 Fall October 5 November 2 January 13 February 1 March 1 March 15 April 12 April 18 May 16 June 13 Petition 2016-2 submitted by Chris McKay. The petition requests to amend the Southeast Ogden Community Plan and rezone properties near the corner of 3850 South Harrison Blvd. Special Planning Commission meeting. Planning Commission recommends approval of the South East Ogden Community Plan amendments and tables the rezone item to August 3. Chris McKay withdraws as petitioner; Daniel Stevens takes over. Planning Commission reviews rezone petition; Planning Staff recommends denial because of inconsistencies with the Community Plan amendment, other land use policies. Rezone tabled to October 5. Rezone item on Planning Commission agenda; however, Planning Staff recommends tabling the item to allow time for Mr. Stevens to update the plans. Item tabled to November 2. Rezone was placed on Planning Commission agenda; Planning Staff again recommends tabling to allow Mr. Stevens to update the project plans. Petition 2017-2 submitted by Daniel Stevens to create and establish standards for Student Housing. Rezone petition reviewed by the Planning Commission; Commission recommends approval of the updated proposal with development agreement. Petition to create Student Housing definition and standards placed on Planning Commission agenda. Commission recommends approval with up to 5 unrelated in a unit. Planning Commission reconsiders recommendation for 5 unrelated in a unit, amends recommendation to up to 4 individuals per unit. Community meeting held at Weber State University (WSU). The petitioner and representatives from WSU and Ogden City presented information related to student housing issues and needs and reviewed the specific proposal. Recommendations from the Planning Commission for all three petitions are formally submitted to the City Council. The proposals were reviewed at the Council’s May 16, 2017 work session. The petitions are scheduled to be reviewed at the Council’s June 13 City Council meeting.
