1 Ogden City Council Work Session: July 11, 2017 UPDATE ON THE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN PROCESS AND PLANNED OPEN HOUSE Purpose of Work Session: Receive a presentation from Fehr & Peers on the Transportation Master Plan Background The Transportation Master Plan process is currently underway, and as part of the City’s contract with Fehr and Peers the consultants have agreed to come to the Council to provide an update on the process and to give an overview of a planned open house. Funding for the Transportation Master Plan was approved with the adoption of the FY2017 budget and FY17-21 CIP. In the budget, $350,000 was appropriated for the study which included approximately $50,000 for a wayfinding element. The City contracted with Fehr and Peers in early 2017 to perform the study. The planning process is expected to take roughly a year and a half with the anticipated completion in the late summer of 2018. The study is expected to be a comprehensive plan for the City’s transportation needs. The City has already adopted a Bicycle Master Plan which will be incorporated into this study. This study will establish visions and goals for the City, and will identify the City transportation needs and deficiencies. This includes studying the overall needs, redevelopment area needs, and planning for uncertainties and disruptive technologies such as changes in housing and transportation preference, fuel costs, automated vehicles, and ride sharing service impacts. The study will also address the creation of a transportation network that includes automobile and freight improvements, transit improvements, pedestrian improvements, and a wayfinding element. The plan also includes a public outreach element. This includes two scheduled open houses. Representatives from Fehr and Peers will review information with the Council specific to the planned open houses including the format of the open house and what information the consultants are expecting to receive.
