Insert “lunch sharing.” It is basically like a potluck for the workplace only it is planned and recurring as often as your group would like. The way it works is, you get together a group of people that would like to participate, schedule a day (either weekly, etc.) that works for everyone, and then rotate who makes the food each time. For example, if there are three people in your group doing weekly lunch shares, every third week you would be in-charge of making lunch for the group! Lunch sharing is a fun way to try new recipes/foods you would not normally have and it connects you with people in your workplace. Sitting down with your friends and sharing a meal is a great way to relax/de-stress during your lunch. Also, when it is your turn to cook, you are making your group members lives better by relieving the stress of packing a lunch! Tips for getting started: • Schedule: Pick a day that works consistently with each group member. Don’t worry about the commitment, you can always change it if necessary or simply bring the food and not have a sit-down meal every once in a while. • Bring the meals in separate containers for each group member. You can even have each group member bring their food container the day before to the person in-charge of cooking that time so that the person does not have to use their own for each member. • Try recipes you have been wanting to make for a while but just have not had the chance to yet. This makes it more fun for you and the group members. • Finally, have fun with it! This shouldn’t be a stressful thing or feel like an “obligation.” Enjoy your own labor and that of your group members while trying new foods/recipes! If you are feeling intimidated by making lunch for multiple people, try a simple potluck instead! The same tips as above apply (except for the containers) and instead of making lunch for everyone you are simply making one dish or one part of a dish to bring. With each person bringing something, it will create a great meal without as much pressure on one person!
