Page 1 of 1 Ogden City Council Meeting: March 7, 2017 ORDINANCE AMENDMENT FOR THE OGDEN DIVERSITY COMMISSION Action: Approve or Not Approve Background After February 14, 2017 discussions regarding the appointments to the Ogden Diversity Commission, Council members requested an amendment to subsection 3-18-2.A of the original ordinance adopted September 13, 2016. Proposal The Administration is proposing a revision to the membership criteria for the Ogden Diversity Commission to strike out the statement in subsection 3-18-2.A that reads “There shall be nine members appointed initially.” This request is a result of the Administration proposing eleven (11) members to be appointed to the Ogden Diversity Commission. AN ORDINANCE OF OGDEN CITY, UTAH, AMENDING THE OGDEN MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SUBSECTION 3-18-2.A TO REVISE MEMBERSHP CRITERIA FOR THE OGDEN DIVERSITY COMMISSION; AND BY PROVIDING THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON POSTING AFTER FINAL PASSAGE. The Council of Ogden City hereby ordains: SECTION 1. Subsection amended. Subsection 3-18-2.A of the Ogden Municipal Code is hereby amended to read and provide as follows: A. [Membership, Staff:] There is hereby established an advisory committee to be known as the Ogden Diversity Commission which shall be comprised of not fewer than nine members, but not more than eleven (11) members, appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the City Council. [There shall be nine members appointed initially.] The Commission shall be staffed by the Mayor’s Office of Diversity Affairs. SECTION 2. Effective date.
