Executive Director meets individual Council members to determine their respective Budget goals and to identify special projects. City Departments: City Attorney, Management Services, Public Services, Police, Fire, Ogden City has seven Council members; Four representing Municipal Wards and Three At-Large The Mayor's Office and the City Council also have operating budgets. Mayor, CAO, Department Directors, and key administrative staff meet in a three-day budget retreat. Council staff presents Council members' goals and special projects at Administration's budget retreat. Joint Resolution adopting financial principles to guide next fiscal year budget. Council office finalizes it's operating budget and submits to Administration for inclusion in the budget. Mayor reviews all department budgets and consolidates them into one proposed budget. Council submits a request to the Mayor requesting additional information that should accompany the Mayor's proposed budget. CAO and administrative financial staff begin meetings with Council staff to review changes that will be included in the new fiscal year budget. City Council adopts the Mayor's Budget as the Tentative Budget for the City and sets a public hearing on the Final Budget for June (Before June 21st per state law). Council staff meets with Administrative staff, including Department Directors to clairfy budgetary line items and make changes a deemed appropriate by the Council. City Council meets with administrative financial staff and Department Directors to receive their input. Based on discussions, Council gives direction for additional changes to be included in the Final Budget. Council adopts Final Budget UNLESS a tax increase is proposed to meet the budgetary requirements. Final Certified Tax Rate Received Final Certified Tax Rate Received Truth in Taxation Hearings held and Budget and Certified Tax Rate adopted (Before August 15).
