Page 1 of 1 Ogden City Council Meeting: May 2, 2017 JOINT PROCLAMATION DECLARING MAY 4, 2017 AS “MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY” IN OGDEN CITY Action: Adopt joint proclamation Summary This joint proclamation declares May 4, 2017 as “Make a Difference Day” in Ogden City. Ogden Public Services Director Jay Lowder will be present to accept this joint proclamation. Council Staff Contact: Brittany Griffin, (801)629-8103 ---PAGE BREAK--- PROCLAIMING MAY 4, 2017 “MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY” IN OGDEN CITY WHEREAS, The Ogden community will come together for a day of service on May 4, 2017 as part of Ogden’s ninth annual Make a Difference Day. This event builds civic pride and unifies the community, while joining collective efforts to clean up the City in preparation for summer events and activities; and WHEREAS, Groups of all sizes and ages are invited to participate in Make a Difference Day by organizing projects, and all residents are encouraged to do their part to improve the community by volunteering in one of those projects. The options for service are endless, and the results are significant; and WHEREAS, Make a Difference Day has become a valued local tradition that continues to grow each year. More than 1,250 volunteers completed 65 projects last year, and event organizers are working hard to make this year’s event even more successful; and WHEREAS, Projects organized for this year include painting at the Ogden Amphitheater, planting flowers at the Golden Hours Senior Center and City golf courses, prepping the Oasis Garden, cleaning tree grates along Historic 25th Street, painting fire hydrants, cleaning the parkway trail, working on other trails and trailhead improvements, painting rooms at the Marshall White Center, and more; and WHEREAS, Make a Difference Day helps showcase our beautiful City during the busy summer months and sets a national example for civic engagement. The extraordinary level of participation in Make a Difference Day projects is evidence that our residents are some of the best in the country. NOW, THEREFORE the Ogden City Council and Mayor Michael P. Caldwell do hereby proclaim May 4, 2017: “MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY” in Ogden City. We express sincere appreciation to the Ogden Public Services employees who dedicate countless hours to planning and carrying out this event, and we are grateful for everyone who donates their time and efforts to making a difference in Ogden.
