Page 1 of 1 Ogden City Council Meeting: June 13, 2017 GFOA DISTINGUISHED BUDGET PRESENTATION AWARD FOR THE FY2016-17 BUDGET Action: No Action Required Executive Summary The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded Ogden’s Management Services Department— Comptroller Division the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the FY2016-17 Budget. Shari’ Garrett from the Utah Chapter of GFOA will present the award. Background June 6, 2017 The Council office received an Administrative Transmittal announcing the city’s receipt of the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the FY2016-17 Budget. This is the seventh consecutive year that the city has received this award. January 11, 2017 City Comptroller Lisa Stout was notified that GFOA was awarding the Department of Management Services—Comptroller Division the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. In order to receive this award, the city is required to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for an effective budget presentation. The budget is assessed and must be rated “proficient” in serving as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device. CS Note: This award is separate from the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program (CAFR Program). The city was awarded this Certificate for the FY2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report in December 2015. Request Shari’ Garrett, a representative of the Utah Chapter of the GFOA, will present the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the FY2016-17 Budget.
