Page 1 of 1 Ogden City Council Meeting: March 28, 2017 RECOGNIZING MAYOR ROBERT MADSEN Action: None Summary This is a request to recognize Mayor Robert Madsen for dedicating his life to service that has vastly improved our community and the lives of all he knew. Mayor Madsen’s wife, Caroline Stewart Madsen, will be present to accept the recognition. It is anticipated that other friends and loved ones will also be in attendance. Council Staff Contact: Brittany Griffin, (801)629-8103 ---PAGE BREAK--- The Ogden City Council and Mayor proudly recognize for providing invaluable contributions to the Ogden community. Mayor Robert Madsen played an instrumental role in the revitalization of Ogden City. He was a member the City Council from 1978 to 1984 and served as mayor from 1984 to 1988. Mayor Madsen was known for his perseverance in efforts to revive Ogden’s downtown business district and Historic 25th Street. He was a strong advocate for the less fortunate, and he helped drive City efforts to improve and increase low-income housing and preserve historical sites in Ogden, including Union Station. Mayor Madsen was very involved in the community as a local business owner and public servant. He ran the Ogden branch of the Madsen Furniture business and was heavily involved in numerous local organizations, including the Ogden Rotary Club and the McKay-Dee Hospital Board of Directors. Mayor Madsen was also very active in his church, where he dedicated countless hours serving in a wide array of leadership positions. Mayor Madsen was a selfless, kind and generous man. We are saddened by his passing and offer sincere condolences to his family, friends and other close associates. We are grateful for the work Mayor Madsen has done for the community, and we are confident that his legacy will continue for many years to come. Presented this 28st day of March 2017. Marcia L.
