UDOT Pavement Preservation State Street: 4500 South to 3000 South The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will host a construction open house for the State Street, 4500 South to 3000 South Preservation Project on Wed., July 27, and Thurs., July 28, at Granite Peaks High. Members of the community and general public are invited to attend anytime during the hours listed below. Project team members will be on hand to provide information and answer questions. Construction open house details: Location: Granite Peak High School Cafeteria 3900 South 501 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84106 Date/Time: Wed. July 27, 2011 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thurs. July 28, 2011 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The project is scheduled to begin in late July/early August and will take four to six weeks to complete. Most of the work will take place between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. During this time, motorists can expect traffic delays and limited intermittent access restrictions. Minimal impacts are expected during the day. Crews will grind off and replace the top three inches of pavement followed by a protective overlay. The project also includes replacing signs, upgrading medians and pedestrian ramps, and making drainage improvements. The purpose of this resurfacing project is to take care of what we have by performing routine maintenance avoiding further deterioration requiring expensive reconstruction. Replacing the pavement is a cost efficient way to prolong the life of the roadway.
