In 2009 the Murray City Council adopted the “Own in Murray” program which provides federal loans to income eligible first-time homebuyers. Qualified applicants can apply for a loan of $5,000, with flexibility to receive up to $7,500 with approval from Murray City. Funds can only be used to assist with down payment or closing costs. Funding for the program is limited, and on a first come, first serve basis. In order to qualify for the program you must meet the guidelines specified below: Income Eligibility o Your yearly household income must be at or below 80% of area median income (area median income is based on the Salt Lake County Metropolitan Statistical Area). Household income includes all income earned by all adults living in the home.
